Doing my own research seems suspiciously like work...

I know that in The Hunt for Red October Clancy says that they used compressed air, but
A- it was a Russian Submarine (although I'm sure the concept is similar regardless of nation)
B- he took some liberties, since he was mostly guessing at the time.

But, some of his guesses were so accurate that he got visits from the gub'mint about where he got his information, lol.

Ugh, cored with marine ply? I replaced my wet spots with corecell foam. Easy to work with.

VERY ha! I got some spray on rubberized undercoating, and was originally going to just remove the failed caulking, reseal it and give it a spray of the rubber coating...but when i pressed the exposed wood joint water oozed out. Im already doing so much work to refit this boat, i couldnt just bandaid fix that. plus i dont want water leaking down on me while im sleeping in the V birth so it had to go. The entire under sheet was bad, its impressive the entire thing could be so water logged. Luckily i have plenty of marine ply left, just had to order some more epoxy/hardener and fiberglass mat. cleaning it all out will probably take longer than glassing back in the new piece. and i'll feel so much better about it with a fillet and a few layers of woven mat epoxied down.

only shit thing is its supposed to rain the next few days...and i cant get the boat angled back with my driveway, so at the moment water on the deck in that area collects there and liked to run into the locker and out the drain hole. So ive fully taped the edge and covered the whole thing in a double layer of plastic, and covered that with a tarp, and might lay another tarp on that to keep water from flowing into the locker mid excavation.

How do you like it? Thats the exact boat my wife and I almost bought, then made a last minute switch and got a Lowe Skorpion. Im happy with it, but always wondered what the Alumacraft would have been like. Its sharp looking.

Looks slappy in chop, with that flat nose curve.

IMG_20180609_135623.jpg Our Lowe can be a little slappy when going slow, but once on plane its pretty smooth since theres not much hull touching the water. The deep ridges running from bow to stern and mod-v configuration helpbreak up the chop a little. Its a compromise between flat bottom skiff and deep V hulls.

Thanks. I'm happy with how well it cleaned up. Looks great for a 2009....I guess spending most of the time garaged helps.

Ten years or so ago I decided to convert my 1991 Spectrum Bluefin 1700 Fish & Ski into a pure Fish & Fish machine. Stock it came fully carpeted, padded, had a fold down port seat, bow rider cushions, etc. It looked pretty much like these pics that I found on the web.

    IMG_0612_4193684499703c91b89ff2600a4f37e487c710be.jpg

Not really my cup of whisky and a pain in the ass to keep clean and dry. So I completely gutted the boat down to the bare hull and went to work. The decks and hatches were rebuilt new and covered in marine vinyl using all new hardware. The consoles were tosssed and completely rebuilt from scratch, covered in marine vinyl with grey Herculiner on top, a hand built instrument cluster, new instruments, and aluminum angle "rails". A doghouse was added for the starter battery and a pair of 12v trolling batteries. It was covered in marine vinyl, attached with detachable hinges, and has a HDPE bait cutting board on top. Side trays were formed out of aluminum and covered in grey Herculiner with rubber trim. The two hull sections were joined at the gunnel and the gunnels were coated in grey Herculiner. The rear step off was rebuilt and covered in grey Herculiner. Basically all the upper horizontal surfaces have grey nonskid Herculiner. Everything else is covered in marine vinyl. There isnt a single screw, nut, or bolt on the boat that isnt stainless steel or a single piece of old wood. After ten years of year round fishing she is holding up like it was rebuilt yesterday.

Me and my buddy's ocean boat, it's a 25ft bow to stern Trophy with a 140 horse saltwater Honda 4stroke, currently were running a lowrance hook 7 saltwater. One of the best riding boats I've ever been in, ripping around out on the Oregon coast It sure tears it up! Next on the list is some trim tibs and to figure out a dingle bar setup.
