Anyone else experience this? Read some other forums on it, but nothing too conclusive.

Wonder if I should be worried or not?

While it's off? It's checking the system for leaks if I recall.

Snakes can't run. They don't have legs.

Noticed this on mine today when cleaning snow off the truck as it was sitting idle. Seemed to be originating from bottom straight down from gas cap. Can also hear hissing when accelerating. Assuming it's normal.

There was a thread somewhere on here about the recall Toyota had to address this problem but I cant seem to locate the tread now. Basically you'll just need to make an appointment with your local Toyota Dealer so they can remove the snakes and dispose of them in a humane manor compatible with state and federal regulations.

I mean if they like staying there then I don't see the point of removing them. Not sure what Toyota is thinking, to be honest.

Funny how people without an answer or common courtesy post attempt to be funny answers. I get it. Lighten up. Have fun. BUT I also get it. I joined and come on and here to find real answers and solutions to avoid trips to the dealer that aren’t needed for a piece of mind or to avoid a dealer BS answer because they don’t want to deal with it. So, I come here first and hope to find someone who’s been down the road ahead of me.
So.. to attempt to answer your question. It’s funny I heard this or noticed it for the first time a week ago. Then this morning I was dusting it off before work letting it warm up and I heard it again. Pretty loud, almost like a tire losing air. It’s not when it’s cycling per say just while it is running. Can’t tell while driving cause the v6 is kinda throaty. But I will say since I’m not the first or probably the last to chime in on this and lights or indicators are NOT on I’m going with it’s normal. Just like the occasional clunk when I’m in my driveway ( someone mentioned welcome to the Tacoma torque converter) or the engine ticking (someone also mention the Tacoma tick) so it’s just little sounds that, come from serveral honda generations, I will become keen on what’s normal Toyota sounds and what’s not. It’s a different family of trucks and cars and there breaking records across the board in all categories as far as sales so don’t worry yourself. It’s still under warranty just mention it when you do your oil changes and have them document your conserns normal or not so IF in the future anything ever comes up it has been documented.

The just mention it attitude is kind of funny, because it seems that's all you can do in many cases with Toyota. "Hey my rear diff. blew up on the freeway...all is normal? Alright! Just want it documented". I'm doing this on Saturday for a brake pedal issue that I've been putting off for so long because they showed me the door first go around. Second times a charm, maybe. But yes. With many things here, I tend to forget about them, including the hissing .
