    Your idea looks great!

But please for the love of God put your hair up when dealing with rotary tools!

Not the safety police, but I agree, power tools can get out of hand real fast. Get yourself a workmate table. You can clamp stuff on it or with it.

Another thing you can do to free your hands up is to clamp the Dremel to the edge of a table. Just be careful with climb cuts either way.

    Okay, safety police gone :anonymous:

Oh shit I never thought of that. when I started I didn't have goggles on, took like a half a second for that to backfire, that's when I threw in the mask, and I didn't even think about my hair getting caught oh man that'd be a disaster.

I built a ramp down my insanely tall back patio (house is on a hill) so the dogs can get to the yard without hurting their backs going up and down stairs. Murder Dog (aka Lucy) had back surgery 2 months ago and we'd like to avoid a very expensive repeat of that. I'm already learning that Kiki, the smaller of the two, can slip in under the lower railing so I need to close THAT off to her. Just what I wanted to add - even MORE railing. Recycled rubber commercial mat for the surface, pressure treated and stained wood everywhere else. Fun to make...don't want to have to do it again.

They can tear up it, and it's got great traction up or down despite how steep I had to make it. As an added bonus, my folk's dachshund can now use the stairs (poor short wiener dog kept banging his own wiener on the steps)!

I'm hoping to finish this one by tomorrow.
I recently got recruited to do some art/mosaic installations at a co-working space in town so tomorrow I'll be finding out what I'll be doing there and crunching on that so I'll probably be a bit less active in here. Hopefully then I'll make some money. I got hired to do a mural by the photographers at my wedding and I finished it up last week and got absolutely covered in chigger bites and they totally ghosted on me. Doubt I'll ever hear from them again. Might make it back out there with my spray paints and give them some male genitalia to look at instead, after they cut the grass so I don't end up covered in bites again haha. Not the first or last time I've been taken advantage of as an artist. I'm thinking about making up some contracts for future use *sigh* anyways, here's my latest project

Did you ever work out a price with them? I can't imagine putting all that time into a mural and not getting compensated for it! I'd be heading back out with a roller and some house paint. If they don't work it out.

I told them to buy my initial materials and I would need compensation for the gas used to get there and hours spent. I told them we could work it out later depending on how they liked the mural, but they made it sound like they were planning a few hundred, which is fine with me. I spent about 30 hours on it and used $17 worth of gas. I don't think the mural itself turned out super well. I think they'll like it but I don't. I did a piece in the past that was a 5 x 4 foot realistic painting of Wrigley field and ended up getting paid about 2.70 per hour. I was in high school though so $1000 bucks might as well had been a million haha. Used that money to rent a u-haul 2 days after graduation so shit worked out lmao.
These guys haven't responded to me in a long ass time though; kinda a bummer. I got bit by all those chiggers on their property and looked like I had scabies (which wouldn't be a surprise since I work in healthcare) so I called into work and went to the clinic. Turns out I'm just super allergic. It's been a week now and they're still pretty awful looking. I should send them a bill for that too lmao. At least the people I'm working with now have stated their budget and how much they'll be paying per piece. They just have to let me know how many I'm doing. They're intending on paying pretty decent money though. I'm the only artist there who doesn't have college experience so I'm a little intimidated lol.
