Black is my vote. I don't like chrome. I have the OEM aluminum running boards. But I like the OEM predators also.

Can I have your recommendations for quality running boards (not nerf bars or tubular side steps) at an affordable price for a 2018 SR5 double cab? My preferred color is black with a six inch width. They will be in Northeast winters with road salt. The IBoards look very attractive both visually and price wise but I'm not sure the alumininum will hold up. Also, I would really prefer American made, not just American designed and made in China.

A lot of what I see are the nerf bars or tubular side steps (like those pictured previously in this thread). Are traditional long flat running boards still popular?

I have the OEM Toyota aluminum running boards, just for my aging grandfather to get in my truck when I drive him to the doctor and what not. I think they are the best looking but most expensive. You can find them in the marketplace here pretty often

Send @eccracer104 a private message for a quote from AutoAnything. He was able to beat Amazon when I bought my 5” Lund’s from him.

unless you take your truck off roading, only a matter a time before someone tells you to get sliders, the best looking are oem running boards. as mentioned earlier, 3rd gen aluminum running boards or oem 2nd gen running boards look the best. the sit high to snug up to the cab and hide the pinch welds and protect from door dings. i also have an mgm tacoma and have the 2nd gen running boards. i like them because they match tbe bed rail caps on the bed.

third gen OEM aluminum running board, Look around on forum or local Craigslist/OfferUp etc, and see what's around second hand. I got lucky and paid 300 for mine. I saw some go as low as 250 but I was too late. :/

I’m 200 pounds and use the factory aluminum steps. They easily hold me when I’m loading kayaks/paddle boards.

If anyone is interested I have some black oval tube/nerf bars for sale. Just switched over to sliders and won’t be needing them. Pickup in Northern California.

I have the N-fab nerf bars and love them The fit and finish has been great (powder coat not gloss black) . I have had them for over a year now and they still look brand new. They have saved me from door dings (one I witnessed myself, and elderly women had opened her door too fast while I was waking up in a parking lot and her door from here sedan smacked right up on the nerf bar). They look great and a lot of my smaller stature family members and friends use them often to get in and out. They also make washing the roof a lot more easier!

I have the 2nd gen boards on my 3rd gen. Works great and was way cheaper because they're no longer the newest or whatever. One of the mounts on the board is angled the wrong way so you just loosen a bolt on the board, slide it the other way, tighten it, and Bam! it fits the 3rd gen.
