I had a sixth gen Hilux, a second gen Tacoma and now this Turd Gen Taco that is the first one I regret.

This is the first one I went with 4 wheel drive and I started going offroad. First it was better tires. Then it was sliders, which then meant I needed skids. Of course since I had protection I needed Kings in the front. Wow, that is great so now Kings in the back. Of course let's not forget the front camera, hi-lift, various tools and recovery gear. Wait, something is still wrong. The front bumper, it needs to be beefier, with better clearance and recovery options, winch etc. etc. Now you know darn well as soon as that front bumper goes on the back bumper has to go ..... spare tire mount, extra fuel provisions.

Now that I get out more, sleeping on the ground sucks. Maybe a shell ........ or rooftop tent ..... ooooo look at those Trurtle Back offroad trailers!!!!

    Yep, complete regret.

    OK, so heres the deal.

I went from an F250 my whole driving life to a Tacoma.

I like the Tacoma as a hunting rig and DD.

I regret going with the Tacoma in terms of a truck. It is very incapable and requires expensive mods to become semi-capable.
Every single time I have needed a truck for building materials or land scaping I end up having to run the math and I’m always considerally over payload.

I like it as a cool collectors toy and plan on having it for many many years.

I really miss having a real truck though. If I needed a full size I would have had to get rid of the Tacoma. Luckily I have access to diesel whenever I need it so I can keep the Tacoma until I can afford to get another full size.

    lol 2" "level"...

That's a 1" nose-high bro lean. You only need 1" to level it. Throw any weight int he back and get ready to look like this. If you're planning to put things in your long bed, be prepared to only fill it with paper towels, replace the springs, or don't do the 1" level + 1" over-level "leveling kit"...

You've already started ruining your truck with that mod... Maybe the full size you're coming from handles it better because it has real springs in the rear. But don't expect that behavior out of a Tacoma. We don't have a good enough spring setup to ruin it with poor lift blocks to begin with, whereas bigger trucks can kind of get away with it... although if you did that to a 1500 I'd still say you're ruining its ability to handle a load without looking like the picture below.

This is what a Taco looks like when loaded to its payload (and not over). Our suspension capacity is probably 400 lbs shy of the actual payload capacity without any modifications.

How do you secure it? Does it leak? Run it off a dual battery setup?

I did put a 2.5” level on my Sierra and still maintained a slight rake in the back. Why would the same kit be any different on a Tacoma?

I have a 15 DCSB and it has more room in the backseat than this loaner 2018 Silverado has. I want my truck back haha. Anyway, how can I confirm this? Carseats bro. My poor daughter is cramped in the Chevy.

no it dont leak. It runs with the cigarette lighter in center console. At this time when i shut the truck off it shuts off but i am waiting on shop to get me in to make me a hot plug so when i kill the truck it wont turn off. They are waiting on battery tray for extra battery. I may change if much longer and just run straight to starting battery for i am not ever going to keep it going over 3 hours with vehicle off.

i like the look of the 19 models. Just too big for what i need and the 19s are even bigger and longer but they are sweet and will be comfortable trucks. I like that 6.2 engine too.

The Tacoma is only 1 inch higher in the back. Putting a 2 inch lift on the front will make it nose high instead of level. The only disclaimer to this is if the spacer is for a a 2nd gen taco then it will be level as the 3rd gen is 1 inch higher from the factory.

A 2” readylift kit comes with a 2” spacer for the front and a 1” block in the rear giving that rake back

This is probably the route I'll go so I can put a rack on my truck and a tonneau cover. Or just to keep the cooler out of the elements. Thank you for your input.
