There is nothing really wrong with the older style SPC arms themselves. I have had every single version of them going back to 2009. There were a couple changes to the bushings, then they added a grease nipple to the balljoint, then they went to a fully forged arm with a different bushing design again, and the balljoint now has a new coating too. You could have probably just replaced the bushings with the second latest version (ride-spec I think) and also replaced the balljoint. And maybe re-paint the UCA itself.

But back to the discussion you are having with SPC, those definitely look like the older style SPCs, but the bushings dont look like the oldest and original design. Looks like you only have one washer per side, if memory serves the version with two washers had issues. The SPC rep doesn't seem to know what he's talking about, maybe he is just comparing your picture to one of their current fully forged ones?

I was in a head on collision with my 2010, basically my front right wheel was lined up with the other guys front left wheel at hwy speeds. Pretty much everything was torn apart (lower control arm, sway bar links, axle, strut shaft, coil, cab mount...) The shock tower where the UCA bolt goes through was totally bent including the UCA bolt; the SPC balljoint did snap, and the SPC arm also broke at the weld where the tubular half joined the forged half. But the nut holding the balljoint on didn't budge! Not saying they aren't strong considering everything else was destroyed as well, but still nice to see they finally went to an all forged design which I now have on my 2017.

You and the poster (forgot name) on page one have good memories, and I think you are correct that he just wasn't familiar with the old style. He said that they brought in someone familiar with older styles and he confirmed it is SPC.

He also confirmed the the single washer setup on each side was not a problem, and that if it has been running fine that it isn't a cause of concern. This is good news to me, because I was hoping to rebuild them to keep or sell (if the bonded rubber bushing don't require destructive methods of removal).

I have what looks like the same gen SPC UCA but I didn’t get any washers when I bought them used. Do you use the “dimpled” OEM washers or what?

for that style of bushing (SpecRide) instructions have it as 2 washers per UCA on the OUTSIDE of the bushing (between the head of the uca bolt and one sleeve and nut and sleeve). do NOT use the OEM dimpled/dished washers.

So the washers would go where the red marks are? I could only find these thin washers, do you think if I stack them they would work?
