Hi folks, I don't actually have a Taco yet, but should be joining the ranks in the next few months as a first time truck owner. Born and raised in the Midwest in farm country, lived in the big city since high school out of necessity, but always wanted a truck and finally going to make it happen. My wife calls it my mid-life crisis, but if this is all it amounts to, she's thrilled. lol

I'm targeting an '18 Sport, Dbl Cb, Short Bd, 4x2 w/ slip diff. or an outright 4x4 ( Blazing Blue ). I've already got numerous mods planned ( nothing outrageous ) with the most ambitious one being the repainting of the plastic surrounding the dashboard from Bros Fourr Speed to match the truck color ( still debating that though ).

Happy to be here and already been lurking for advice, tips, and mod ideas.

I’ve actually owned my 06’ taco prerunner for nine years. Best truck I have owned! I am doing a complete brake job and have ordered parts from AutoAnything. I have watched the u tube videos and looks pretty straight forward. Looking for some quick tips to make job easier. Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

New to TW and first Tacoma. I had a 05 Tundra back in day. Here’s a picture of it when I brought it home. Awesome truck so far. I love all the options the off-road came with.

Howdy folks. Bought my first Taco about two weeks and absolutely loving it so far. Both my first new car and my first Toyota. I've already gotten a lot of helpful info from this forum, so I figured it was time to make my first post. As some others have posted, never had the mod bug before, but the itch is now in full swing. Looking forward to getting to know y'all!IMG_1465.jpg

my 2018 TRD Off-Road is my first new vehicle as well.
...the ability to tow the old car with it went a long way towards convincing the soon-to-be Mrs. that it was a good idea :D

    Hello all,

I finally decided to sign up. I've been lurking for a little bit but now that I have started to do things to my truck, I wanted to start to share what I have done. My goal is to keep the stock appearance. So far I have added 265/75/16 Firestone destination AT's on stock wheels. These tires were advertised as sharp handling with offload capability. I come from driving a 350z for 10 years so capable but not wonky handling is important to me and I did not want the un-sprung weight of LT tires. The Firestone tires delivered as it was a hard choice between these and the falken wildpeak. Next up is the suspension which is another animal that i must tackle. I went thru 3 sets of lowering springs two sets of adjustable struts and finally a set of coil-overs for my 350z. I have learned that changing shi! even with the best research doesn't yield the results you always want. I finally ripped out the entire suspension (this was the 7th time at this point) and finally put back standard blue tokico shocks and linear RSR springs and adjustable swaybars. Lesson learned. Keep it simple...Save money.

I hope to contribute to the forum with my knowledge of working on cars as well as get some good ideas on what I should do with my suspension with the many questions I have.

Both I and my wife got a taste of offroading in a jeep in Lanai hawaii (if you ever go to maui I highly suggest taking the EARLY day boat to Lanai and rent a jeep to offroad all day. Its pretty bad A$$). We purchased a 2016 tacoma SR5 doublecab v6 4X4 in silver just months after the 3rd gen was released. We planned on getting a tacoma 4x4 sport model but it was sold just right before we were going to go for a test drive. Dealer called us back and sold us a fully loaded SR5 with the paint protection, scotchguard, side steps for a hair under 30k at 2.7% interest. We got the 100k warranty for free and they threw in the all weather mats. The next week we put 5000 miles on it with a Huge 9 state road trip. We went on a few trails and it handled them easily. Last year My wife wanted a 4runner so we traded in our camry for a dark grey SR5 premium 4x4. My wife feels the 4runner is just an overall better vehicle that the tacoma. She refuses to drive the truck now YAY!
Here is a picture of the truck just after we got it and also a more recent picture with the new tires. I have recently removed the sidestep.
