I forgot I had just a few shots from RL on my phone, had my GP recording all day so I didn't use my cell camera much.

I was trying to get a shot of the steam coming from my hood scoop, pretty cool when it would do it, like a dragon snorting.

As is just got a little coming off the headers in the fender well.

A horse fly big enough that I was legitimately more afraid of its bite than the little ol gater in that one puddle. Plus the dang thing kept staring me down and beating its wings at me like "Roll the window down punk, I dare you!"

I mean look at that thing it's all the way down at the curve of my hood and you can tell it's still big. Thing was large as my thumb, could certainly take a chunk out of your hide.

And home, dirty truck is dirty. Neighbors came over and asked if I was alright and what the hell happened, apparently it's not normal for someone to intentionally get their truck this dirty.

Here's where mine is located...I figure if it sucks water in the diff from there, I've got bigger problems than water in the gear lube, lol.

Not too bad. This was the Damp Rid pouch this morning when I was leaving for the airport. I'm leaving it in until I get home.

Well after a failed attempt to upload the videos from my camera (not phone) earlier this week and taking the last few days off in Ft.Meyers I’ll try the SIM card with the computer since the cable from camera to computer didn’t work with the file later this week. Got 4 on that one

Another radiator hack repair underway. Radiator is removed, cleaned, and the leak is located. The fan is sitting on top of it drying it off. The JB Weld will be going on tomorrow, and hopefully Thursday it will be going back together. Then maybe I'll rest Friday before Rick comes over to get his new cab lights and light bar installed. Next week I'll start pulling tires and brake drums and finish off the summer clean up. I might change my front diff oil before then though I'm sure it's full of water. Need to replace the right inner axle seal before next wheeling season, but that CV might be clicking, so I'll wait until the end of the summer to mess with that I think.

So, I spent about 4 hours last night cobbling a video together mixing the fore and aft cameras to share some OGT footage (I didn't turn the rear camera on until after that first big hole, sorry Lee). After rendering, I realized I used the wrong settings and dropped a few good shots. Luckily, I saved the unrendered project, so I'm going to give it another go tonight.
I've started previewing the videos and noting time stamps, so going back to find the stuff that got cut should be pretty easy.

Oh, and I also just ordered my radiator armor, the .063 stainless mesh that Kyle suggested. Means I'll have to take the radiator back out when I get it, but I'm cool with running more distilled water to flush all the tap water we dumped in it out for a week or so.

S'alright there were at least two other people taking video of it with their phones. @michaelrussell :boink:

I might just do that--especially since most of the rest of my video is the ass end of your truck going through mud and water holes, lol. My old computer doesn't like editing video. I usually have to either reboot right before I do it and or right after.

    ---

I also stole a march on the radiator...I think. It dried out faster than I anticipated so I taped it off and plastered it with some old Fast Weld 10 (aviation grade JB Weld) I found in my toolbox. Of course the inventory control sticker said it expired in FAA time in March of 2006, but I'm hoping that in hack automotive mechanic time as long as you can squeeze it out of the tube, it's still good to go, lmao. It got hot and hardened up so I'm hopeful it'll do the job. I'll put that sucker back together tomorrow afternoon and if it holds water, I get two days of rest. Then maybe Thursday I can get my uncle to pilot the OGT while I calibrate the Scan Gauge for the tire size speed correction and finally get some accurate mileage data.

Honestly, I don't know about the rest of you, but that trip really was fun. I like creeping into the unknown where I can't see the ground I'm treading on knowing I might have to back out of it and never find out if I could have made it or not. There was some fun mud out there too even though we didn't stop and play in it much. That spot where the F250 got stuck was an interesting place. I know when I went to go around the water hole that ground was soft and slippery. I was headed dead for a tree and I'm sure Rick was about to flip out but at the last minute the front tires caught grip and pulled us over into the ruts that went past the tree.

Even that slippery stuff we got into when we met those other guys with the Tacoma was pretty fun. Kyle said I made everything hard look easy and everything easy look hard because I was following 3 other trucks including LeeMar on his 35s and I hadn't bothered to put it in 4WD even though I had to stop in the slippery shit. It was working fine though before the Swampers decided to quit going forward and start going to China, lol.

Sure there wasn't any technical stuff out there but it was challenging at times and the views were often pretty good.

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
It was fun! Even with my hate/love affair with mud and water. Notice I said hate first...lol.

For me the adventure and unknown really satisfies the reason I have an off-road truck.

Sadly I'm not able to do this as much as I would like. Especially in the last year with my wife being diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully she's doing very well!

I'm lucky to have linked up with a group that shares this intrest and welcomed me in even though I don't have a Tacoma, even though my old runner will be powered by a Tacoma engine at some point.

Now it just needs to cool off so we can get back out in the woods.
