I was having a problem on my 2nd Gen. It's not a product error, just a minor adjustment for clearance. The gap is minimal at the top of the skid. The lower grill opening on my truck was banging the skid when I went over bumps. The skid was actually digging into the grill and scraping. I grabbed some $12 automotive trim from Advance Auto and fixed it in about 3 minutes. No more rattling:

You could also add a couple washers to the front spacers. It would keep it off the bumper valance.

Is anyone else waiting for their recovery point? I've received skid plate but no recovery point.

For the people that installed it, did you remove the factory black steel "splash guard" or install over top?

My OR has the factory "TRD" aluminum skid on top of the splash guard. The guard gets in the way of accessing the mounting points. (The welded nuts on the top of mounting flange at front of factory plate snapped off after the bolts got bent slightly in a hit.)

Rather than weld new nuts I was thinking of installing with the bolt facing down and the nut accessible on the bottom.

Pros/cons of installing on top of factory splash guard?

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
Well, finally finished up putting it on. I think it took longer deciding what was the best color vs actually getting it on. Happy with the way it turned out.
Too bad my state requires front plates.

Just mounted mine up yesterday. Much sturdier than the flimsy stock plates, but this still flexes and I'm not sure how well it would stand up to a big hit. I think the factory mounting points are the weak link, other heavier plates mount directly to the frame after pulling off the factory mounting 'tracks.' For my purpose, they will protect the undercarriage from road hazards, get me some approach angle protection and the occasional 'bang! whoops!' hits on the trail.

    Looks super nice though!

Hey Matt, Had a mishap and scrunched my front, plate worked great no damage. EXCEPT the dumb F&CKS at the repair shop, AFTER I told them to save all the bolts and washers and I would get them a diagram to put it back together. It is held on each side by one bolt and one flat washer right now. Think they could figure out the 'P' and 'D' stamp? NOPE.

Can you send me the specs on the washers so I can go get the correct ones.

Thanks again, great plate and worked like it should.
