Like title says, I have always had alloy wheels. My usual trusted wheel/ tire cleaner was MGuires. (pic) I don't want to damage the wheels, is McGuires good for these to, or what do you guys recommend.

    Thanks in advance!

Well... ya. You do have to be dedicated to cleaning them. Scratches in the chrome start a downward spiral but again I’m talking about my 30 year old rims and I am now letting them turn to shit to use as my winter rims. I’m looking now for a set of summer wheels and tires

Nothing on a truck/car is a bitch to clean if you clean it once or twice a month you can use something as mild as a car wash soap and certainly some of the non acid based dedicated wheel cleaners by any of the numerous popular car detail companys you can find on autogeek etc...

Even easier to clean if it has some kind of coating/sealant. SiO2 spray on rinse off products work well for this and are stupid easy to apply.

Si02? Never heard of that, I'll look it up! Thanks! I usally follow the old Cowboy ways, she gets a bath every Saturday, lol! Just wanted to make sure I don't do something stupid and use something on these that I used on alloys that will ruin these wheels that cost me a pretty penny you know.

Just to be clear, the SiO2 products would be more of a sealant after the wheels (or paint, glass, trim...) are already clean. It will make it harder for the brake dust and road grime to stick. Of course brake dust will still be on the wheel, but a strong hose and especially a pressure washer will knock most of it off.

Something like CarPro Hydro2 or Mckee's37 Hydro Blue

Windsheild will bead water like crazy when freshly applied. With moderate rain or some decent speed you will rarely need to run wipers.

Sonax. Good stuff and safe. The key with any tire cleaner on sensitive surfaces is to not let it sit. Better to use the product two or three times, progressively cleaning, rather than applying and soaking for several minutes (particularly in the sun). That's when the damage happens.

OP chrome takes more effort to maintain. You do not want to leave brake dust or salt on them as it will ruin the finish.

That exact product is why I have boycotted McGuire’s products.
It stained my concrete driveway and I had to acid wash it to clean it.
It has to be unsafe to use on anything other that aluminum wheels.

I wouldn’t recommend using it at all.

I like Chemical Guys products. We just had a thread that discussed tire/wheel products. I like Diablo Wheel gel to clean and CG Decon DeIronizer to help clean uo brake dust.

With chrome you typically (well you typically want to get rid of it because its 2018 LOL) want to polish it yearly because cleaning it at all leads to scratching the surface.

You’ll want to go with wheel brushes and microfiber towels designed for chrome wheels. You also may want to get a sealer or coating you apply on your wheels once a year to minimize the hands on cleaning you have to do to reduce scratching.

Chrome is a B to take care of.

Thanks for the tips guys, make me almost want to sell 'em.

Packcon, I am a stickler for a clean driveway, I have spilled the entire contents of my trans fluid on my drieway, quarts of oil, everything else you can imagine!

I tried it all, what works best (to clean oilly hands to) is $5.99 a gallon purple Fabuloso concentrate cleaner! Spray it on, let sit, hose it off. May have to do a couple of times, but works! Also Dawn soap does pretty good with oil.
