Im trying to find a bright LED reverse light that will slide into my trailer hitch similar to this:
    https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Covers/MaxxTow/MT70429.html

All i need it for is reversing. I want it to plug into the trailer harness so it comes on when the truck is in reverse. It needs to be bright because it is hard to see at night while reversing due to my window tint. I prefer the in-the-hitch style because I dont want to cut into the bumper for flush mounted lights nor do i want a bulky setup hanging of the hitch or sticking far out.

Any clue where i can find something like this?

Couldn't you buy that one and just put a clear piece of plastic over the LED. Just run the wire to the reverse light in the tail light or the trailer connector?

You could make your own, just get a rubber or plastic 2" hitch cover and install a square backup light in it.

Only reason I said those was because the first one isn't that bulky (or doesn't look it from the pictures), the second one can be used as a step when the stinger is in and the third one was to give an idea of possibly using slim LED's instead of the 3" square ones that would make it almost up under the rear bumper out of the way. Haven't seen any reverse light stinger type lights unless he wants to make his own.

Your ideas seem the most logical to me. Probably tons of light too!!

I am in the same situation the OP is. Have 15% tinted windows all around and at night it's really dark. Been searching for ways to add some back up lights to the rear without cutting the bumpers for flush mounts. Agree with the OP about not wanting something large and low hanging too.

Thanks for the suggestions. What im looking for is to not add "clutter" to the rear of the truck, hence the desire for something that slides inside the hitch for mounting and sits almost flush on the receiver opening. I am starting to think custom made might be my only option. I would have to find a square led light with the backside casing small enough to fit in the receiver hole that will be bright enough.

Have you thought about getting brighter reverse light bulbs? LED?

I was thinking I needed to install some reverse lights.........however, I simply changed the bulbs to a bright LED version and I was really impressed with the additional light.

Check out how the Ford F-150 does it. They have a small round led light mounted in the tailgate handle, nice and bright.

Old post I know, but one of these fits perfectly inside the hitch. The only hard part is you need to machine a round cylinder and a hole on the side (think of a martini olive) so that you can mount to the pod and it'll hold the pod straight without falling out. Then just a standard trailer hitch connector to it (I forget if the trailer connector only lights up with head lights though). Not 100% plug and play but doable as I have made one before. https://www.visionxusa.com/shop/2-solstice-solo/

+1 on the swapping the reverse lights out for super bright LED bulbs. I did that on mine and the difference was (if you'll excuse the pun) night and day.
