    No downside. No way to ascertain benefit without more information.

    not that I am CB expert, but I think your mount isn't correct. I think the 2 nylon washers go on both sides of the mount. They should fit your hole on the smaller end of washers. These allow the insulation of the center conductor to pass thru the mount, current assembly will short the center conductor to the metal of your mount. These nylon washers have a smaller end, your hole thru mount needs to let the smaller end fit in it on top and bottom, this insulates the conductor.

    In good now.

    Love the designated wire holes on the passenger side. One cut and a perfect waterproof fit.image000000_01.jpg

    This is a Kenwood TM-D710GA. I plan to install an Icom IC-7000 chassis to the left of the Kenwood chassis. I'm not yet sure where I'm going to put the control heads. The Kenwood control head below is a temporary install until I decide. Might do the Tech Deck? I have some other ideas as well.

    The relay is ignition switched, and that relay switches the entire distribution block. I'm planning to add a 12v charger for my portable as well.

    Is anyone aware of a water proof style bulkhead to pass a coax cable through ? I'd like to tuck my cable that mounts to my rack under my headliner and bring it through the roof instead of behind the cab or through the door.

    This is for a boat. There are other options for boats. I don't think I'd want to bolt this to my truck though. One big advantage of the drilled NMO mount, is that you don't have to deal with getting the coax into the vehicle. I can see where that might be a problem with your rack.

    Drill a hole, grommet and silicon is another method.

    Finally got around to installing my FT-7900r in the 3rd Gen.

    I ended up using a RAM gooseneck mount but cut the rod down to the shortest length possible to keep it just below the front of the drivers seat;

    The radio body and speaker is mounted under the seat out of the way of all the yellow wires;

    [IMG]

    a fender mount with my Larson NMO antenna went on without a hitch.

    All tuned up and scanning my favourite channels.

    I ran mine behind my cab, along a frame rail (zip tied to other wiring) and in through the firewall A/C drain area (passenger side of the firewall).

    I know it's not what you were looking for, but maybe an alternative.

    At that point I'd just do the vent on the back side of the cab and put the main unit behind my back seats. Hopefully getting the new Aux fuse pannel set up this weekend. And I need to shorten my cable as well.

    I wanted to run mine through the back of the cab, then found out unlike my 2015, there was no vent in the back of the cabs any more. I've got my antenna mounted in the center of my bed right behind the sliding window. Down and under was the only way to get the coax in without drilling holes.

    If you decide to open a hole and run a line through it, please keep us posted!

    They're there. Just need to take out the black buckets behind the seat or just pop a hole for them

    Two Hawks I noticed you have an Osram Copilot map light.....Does the model you have pictured fit in your 12V socket fairly snugly or is it loose? I have a Hella map light and it just doesn't sit well.....Apologies to the rest as this not really related.....Thanks!!

    Posted this in the What have you done today thread but here's how I'm mounting the head unit my my Kenwood with the body going under the seat. I drilled out the top of the bezel and installed a RAM mount ball stud. Drilled out a plate mount and used the 4 screw holes in the back with some #6 screws so this is a 100% RAM solution that I can move around as desired.

    It would be fine like this for highway use but I think the bouncing will fatigue and crack the plastic over time so I have a 12" tough-track coming tomorrow for the same spot that will let me mount other electronics like my phone and GPS when out on the trail. Similar to other solutions on the market but total cost will be significantly less - it just involves disassembling and a little cutting of the bezel.

    Yeah the map light pretty much holds tight on there. To make this a happy reply, UPDATE: happy to report my radio mount is still solidly mounted even after many miles of Idaho's washboard roads.:burnrubber:

    I ran mine on my DCSB down between the bed and cab on the drivers side. Forward a couple of feet and up through the plugged access hole near where the passenger on the drivers side would place his/her feet.

    I've been thinking about installing this Kenwood TS-480SAT(HF+6M with an automatic tuner built in, 100w) I've had for a few years(unused as I have a Yaesu FT-2000 for my base HF rig) in my Tacoma. Screwdriver antenna off of a bed rail. I just can't figure out where I'd like to mount the head of the radio. I already have my VHF/UHF(Icom ID-5100) head mounted on a piece of ABS plastic that I blocked off the Qi charging cubby(which I never used anyway).
