May or may not try to take another stab at it eventually. Definitely want another 1st Gen soon, even if it means selling the '81.

Anyone know a decent alternative to buying the factory gaskets for the lower intake manifold x cylinder heads? They want $40 a piece x2 and mine are corroded enough near the water jackets that I don't want to reuse them. Factory part # is 17177-62060 Thanks

    * I've only found them in gasket sets and I already have a plenum gasket :)

Edit: This is the best deal I've found:

    https://www.amazon.com/Fel-Pro-MS95898-Manifold-Gasket-Set/dp/B000C2GFIC

Felpro is decent, ya? @Speedytech7 and anyone else in the know?

At least you found it early. I have less than 4000 miles on the 1" bl I installed to clear my shock crossmember and had the block punch though the bed cross member. I've added 3/16" plates to disperse the weight a little better. I really should pull the bed completely off cutout that bed support and make my own beefier support but I don't have time right now to do that...

Speed, rough roads, and +1000lbs of weight in my bed did mine in.

Finally putting in this dash cam after witnesses two accidents, and almost getting into one.

The sad thing is I had the dash cam sitting on a shelf when that happened.

HLEP! I know this isn't the right place but I tried to post this in the right place over 2 weeks ago and I've had zero views so im messing something up, I tried to email the admin for some advice twice but to no avail. In was eits not obvious I am technically challenged and can't figure out how to post this correctly so if someone could explain it to me I would appreciate it.

I have a 2001 Tacoma 4x4 3.4 v6 and the steering rack was replaced. I found a brand new factory one on CL, apparently the 2wd takes a different rack, and he had ordered the wrong one so I score a factory rack at the remo price to replace my 249,000 rack, that had just started leaking a little bit from a bad seal. A bit much of a project for me so I had a mechanic friend who has a lift at home replace it for me, pump seems fine, new fluid, even got a bushing kit for the rack. Apparently the one hose wouldn't come off and had to be cut off and that was replaced that was an Autozone part. First impression is it is WAY over boosted, but its all new so OK it feels a little different I guess that's normal? Second impression is it STILL LEAKS!%@$#$@&%^*!!! not from the seal but from just below where the steering wheel spline connects to the rack, it is a machined metal on metal surface and I assume there is an O-ring in there. It is bolted down front and back so I cinch down the front bolt with my 12mm and I did get a little movement so I think its all good, but no a few days later the tiny drips show up again @^!%#*!%@!!! so back under and it is still tight on the front and I spend 10 minutes figuring out how to reach the back bolt with my 12mm and again I get a little movement and I am now hopeful that this is the end of the issue. NOPE! and to make it worse when I drove it after that it defiantly felt funny as well as over boosted. So a couple of questions. What's going on? And, how do I fix I?. FYI I did not buy it from the dealer but the guy I bought it from did, and it was brand new. I am going to track him down in my past texts and hopefully he will help me if returning it or getting it fixed under warranty is a reality, but at this point I'm even sure what's happening so if you have any insight please let me know , thanks.

I had that code come and go for a few weeks then it went away on its own and hasn't come back in months.

If anything you probably just need to replace the rear O2 sensor.

Thought I’d finally hardwire up my dash cam - had it working for about 30 seconds before the transformer shit itself.

Have another one coming Monday. For now I get to run the ghetto cigarette lighter power adapter.

:hattip: to you sir. After watching this one, I'm glad I went with option 1. Although, must confess I am a little worried about the tech botching it as discussed in the video. Anyone off hand know what (if any) warranty is given with a service like this? If the damn seal fails or starts to leak again... :annoyed:
