Agreed. I cancelled though and I'm gonna try century link at 120mb/s for $100 less than I'm paying now a month.

CL only offer 60mb/s in my area. I am paying for 300 from cox and usually get 400-450mb/s. I can upgrade to gigablast with cox, but no reason to pay more. Actually thinking about going down a level and adding unlimited to keep my bill the same. The one month I went over was expensive.

We were going over consistently with 1500 gigs a month. But still slightly cheaper than unlimited.

My average is 3tb a month. Had to get unlimited. Not a fan of Cox but I don't have any other options.

Do you hate yourself? If the answer is no, you will for getting Century Link.

You'll be back to Cox if you want some stability and speed. I hate Cox communications with a dying passion, but there isn't a thing I can do about it. I've tried Century link, Huges Net, and that's it. No other options for me in my area and we won't be seeing Goooooogle fiber ever. If you aren't a heavy user you might be ok with Century Link.

Where is your VPN pointing you? When I travel I sometimes have problems sending emails from my phone, always tells me my password is not right. This is especially true when I’m overseas.

Got that figured out. I was using a Eurpean server, now it is a USA server and I don't have to disconnect every time sending an email. I am slowly learning this network thing.

What modem do you have? I only get about 260 from them instead of 300+.

Its a NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 (24x8) DOCSIS 3.0 WiFi Cable Modem Router Combo (C7000). It's a comb unit, but after a month I turn the router function off and got a ASUS RT-AC88U.

My girl was going to get that same router, but I told her a separate modem and router was better. She insisted on the combo though. We get to Best Buy, and the C7000 is out of stock. The employee tells her separate is better. So she gave in and bought a Netgear CM1000 and a R7000P. We go home to set it up, and she has to call her ISP to set up the new modem. I over hear the lady on the phone tell her it's a good thing she didn't get a combo unit. My girl looks at me while I have that "I told you so" look on my face lol. The new modem is overkill since her ISP (Charter) is only giving her 60/5 speeds.

My modem is a Surboard SB6141, supposed to be capable of 340+ Mbps, but I wonder if being only 8 channel is holding me back.

I got the modem the stupid cox contractor suggested. Its why I bitch when every they try and send me a contractor. As a modem, I have no completes whatsoever. Plus, if my router ever pukes, I have a backup for a day or two until I get a new one.

I loved my SB6141, but you are right, it is your limiting factor. You need 20 channels, IIRC.

So, either buy a new router or call and lower your service... spend money or save money.
