Each tune has been an improvement or a step deeper than the previous. This is completely uncharted territory for Mat and OVT... Really it's uncharted territory for the entire Tacoma Market as no one else has done what Mat has done before. He's literally writing the book. He's a small business, he had to release stuff early, one to get a feel for the market, two to develop and market himself to the Tacoma community, three to develop funds for further tuning and R&D (he bought a Tacoma...) and 4 there was a client base willing to help with the development and testing of different files offering real time data and suggestions... I'm sure there more reasons but I'm a nurse, not a businessman...

Lets not get too greedy with what we have. I don't think it's wrong to have high expectations, however I think we need to keep the parameters and such realistic. He's not going to be able to develop the perfect tune the first time around for a full release with no testing/real world data... Microsoft has been creating software for years and they still can't do it right the first time and require MULTIPLE updates to get it right... They just hide it a lot better.

I’d much rather there be many tunes and updates along the way than waiting 2+ years for the “finished” product. Updates show that it is an active project and gives me confidence there is support behind what you are buying. Matt has taken a lot of feedback from the community which is going to make a much better product in the end.

It’s not for everyone but comparing factory to now, I don’t think people can really be unhappy. There was issues on the stock tune whether or not people want to accept that. Some of those issues have been remedied and some are still there. Others may only appear under certain conditions or certain vehicles. You can’t develop without a lot of data points. If you do, you are setting yourself up for failure.

this, and the fact that he still has not had proper dyno time in a MT truck. which is freakin amazing if you think about:
    1) how much has been achieved coming from so little actual MT performance info (most of which came from AT dynos & MT techstream logs)
    2) that to this day there STILL is not a MT owner local to Mat who has made this happen. if i had a free week in my life i'd literally drive out to Mat and let him go at my truck until it's perfect. i have no free weeks not to mention moments in my life any longer.

call it MT beta if you want. until he gets proper MT dyno time it's not what we're all hoping for, Mat included. but it is already f'ing awesome!

If I have to drive down from freaking Canada, well you guys are just weaksauce!
When Mat gets moved to VA, crowdfund the hookers/beer and I'm in.

Absolutely! Can you imagine if we were all still stuck driving on the stock tune?

I would probably be driving a Frontier PRO 4X V6 M/T right now if that were the case.

Edit- before anyone asks, yes I've test driven a couple of them already. Dated, but torquey.

In Canada you can only get that drivetrain config in an extended cab. No Quad Cab M/T .

I was pretty sure you meant a MT TRD Pro unicorn like @mZiggy but apparently Nissan still makes a MT in the frontier. Guess you learn something new every day.

I would still be driving the MT taco until I got tired of the factory garbage and traded on a 5.7 Tundra or stumbled into a second gen that I wanted. The creature comforts of the 3rd gen are nice, it would suck going back to gen 2

I have exactly zero issues with 1.04 tune. I had issues with surging in previous tunes, but so far not a single issue for me with 1.04. Happy camper here.

Goes to show the variability with these trucks.. overall I'm happy but there are still a few things that bug me/have crept back in over time. Again, M/T dev truck is needed IMO.

Dicounted turbo kit for the first dev truck to arrive to OVT. There would be a bunch of trucks there in no time

So you all are having problems with low rpm and high load?

I shift early for mileage and drive at slow speeds in second and sometimes even forth (1500 rpm).

I could potentially blow my engine if I had this tune? I would have to drive without "lugging".

I noticed the price has gone down on the website. The engine knock scaring me away. Shoot....

No, that's not where I have spark knock.. if that's what you are referring to.

Truck runs great in 5th/6th at that RPM. In fact, my daily commute is mostly in that range.
Man, you're starting to get a bit paranoid lol. Myself and others have put 1000s of miles on the tune.

IIRC the price "drop" was because it was only for the tune, not for the tune + flashing dongle/cable. Ppl were advised to buy the cable direct from Tactrix while Mat was in Asia. If you add the two up, you still get the original price.

The tune is not going to blow up your engine ....... it's not a race tune ...... no where close to the edge.

These are still trucks ...... and they need this tune.

I’ve got over 25,000 miles on various tunes. You’ll be fine. Even with the minor issues some people have, it’s far fewer issues than the truck has on the stock tune.

People need to keep in mind that these problems exist on the stock tune as well. It’s not just on the OVT. It’s been verified multiple times.

If someone wants to donate a TRD CAI and exhaust, I’ll put them on my truck and collect data for the community.

I’ll also accept a turbo or super charger…
