Planning on getting 6112’s and 5160’s. Should I need anything else? AAL, etc? Not looking to add tons of weight to the truck, just sliders and some better skids. Also, anyone know a great place to get this installed in Northern Colorado?

Anyone get the aftermarket Bilstein CNC clamps for mounting the reservoir directly to the 5160 ? Or are you guys just mounting the reservoir to the frame ?

I mounted mine to the frame. I found some mounting brackets that were designed to mount the reservoir to the frame on the front of a Dodge pickup - they were not expensive. I just drilled 2 holes in the frame on each side.

Are you just leveling or lifting? An AAL will help you keep the factory rake, and aftermarket leaf packs will give you more lift and help you carry more weight but if that is not your thing then don't worry about it. Aftermarket UCA's might be necessary if you are going up too much in the front.
I hooked mine to the factory frame.........fairly easy. I was going to get the aftermarket clamps but they are pretty expensive for "just for looks" purposes. The frame option is really easy and the directions are straight forward.

Just slight lift in the front. Don’t want it level as I think the 3rd gens look funny completely level.

Saw some posts that we were tagged in. We do have the 2nd gen 6112's in stock as well as some 3rd gens but we are fulfilling back orders on those still.

Going to mount them to the frame with the clamps provided in the setup that I bought from Headstrong.

Waiting for the UPS truck to show up today.....

    Ok so here’s my dilemma...
I’m going to pull the trigger on the 6112/5160 with heavy or medium Dakar’s (not decided). With or without jba/spc Uca considering I’d like to stay away from uni ball joint type UCA’s due to the fact Its on concrete more than off road also I’d like to keep maintainane to a minimum. With ray 10’s on BFF ko2’s 275/75/17.
I tow a boat about 60miles rd trip each week or so (21ft on a double axle trailer weighing more or less 4K#)

Will I clear the tires at full turn w/o rubbing on a 2in lift ? Or do I need to bump it up ?
Are the hd Dakar’s necessary or can I get away with the mediums?
Lastly will the Dakar’s settle to level out with the 2in lift?

I think you mean to say stay away from uni-ball type UCAs.

I think the first question is whether you have a dcsb, a dclb, or a access cab. The second question is whether it is a 2nd gen or 3rd gen. With the 6112 option in the front if you have the shocks set on the 4th, or 5th notch (for 2nd gen) or the 5th or 6th notch (3rd gen) then you will want the uca's. I went with jba just because of the quality and the ease of the moog ball joint. I have the medium dakars with the 5160's in the rear on a 2nd gen dclb and I would most certainly be able to tow your rig with that size tire without a problem. You have a brake controller set up?

It’s a 3rd gen DCSB and no I don’t have a brake controller. I was looking into getting the redarc brake controller check them out. finally a company made and attractive brake controller that isn’t bulky.

I have a tekonsha P3 brake controller. Does the boat trailer have its own breaks?

Yes it’s got a pair of drum breaks on one of the two axles.

You should be fine with the 6112's at 2 inches, with jba uca's, the 5160's in the rear with the medium dakars, and the brake controller. You might want to invest in some "wheelers" superbump bump stops as well just in case. I wouldn't recommend the heavy dakars unless you are going to have 600+ lbs in the back of your truck all of the time on top of the towing.

Anybody running the 6112s with the 650# 14" spring? Does it change the lift heights at all? I have an ARB front bumper so I need the heavier springs.

Plenty people including my self are running 650 and 700lb 14”. You gain no lift as both are 14”

Sorry I thought the 6112s came factory with a 600# 13" spring, I was told I would have to upgrade them to the 14x650. But what I meant was for the preload clips, headstrong states having them set on the 5th ring gives 2.5ish, will the longer coils in turn give more lift set at the same clip setting? Thanks

There is no longer coil/spring out there as far as I know to give or maintain the lift you want. Adding a spacer is the only way if you want more lift....

Lots of guys running the 6112's at top settings without UCA's. Chatted with Rogue Offroad, Headstrong and a few local shops. If you have the $$ great, but I'm told its not necessary for 2", especially if the truck is primarily an on road vehicle.

I"ll know first hand in the next couple days, as the UPS man brought my setup from Headstrong (Heavy Dakar's not in pic).
