    Hello, first post.
Today I did my first oil change on the Tacoma after 5000km..Don’t really want to wait 16000. Anyways, the manual says it takes 6.1/6.2 quarts, or 5.7/5.8 liters. Since I’m in Canada, I buy by the litre. I used Mobil 1 which only came in 4.4L jugs as the largest size so I bought 2, dumped one in, then used a 500ML measuring cup and filled it up twice and dumped that in. That should have only been about 5.4 liters of oil but I checked the dip stick anyways and it was just above the second highest dot on the dipstick. So I drove around the block a bit, filled up gas and came home and checked again and it was still at the same level. I dont want to put any more oil in and over fill it. Has anyone else had this issue? I’m sure all the oil was drained prior to filling. Thanks you.

The dipsticks in these trucks are pretty hard to read with clean oil, if you properly drained all the old oil out, and then added 6.2 Quarts I would not worry.

You're good, we don't use factory specs in the industry, we memorize the liters sure, but the dipstick is the tool we rely on.

My gun reads 6.3L on these trucks when I do oil changes, but who knows how accurate it is, I go by the dipstick.

5,000km is really early but good for the first change. I would suggest just doing it at 10,000k or more, otherwise you're just wasting synthetic oil.

Also if you're gonna do your own changes look into getting a metal cap for the filter, the older highlanders had it. Way more durable, it makes the changes a lot easier.

Just changed mine for the first time tonight, I thought the same thing iv found that dipstick hard to read since I got the truck even worse with fresh 0w20. I put 5.8L in nd called it good also had to use a strong arm to get the filter housing unscrewed.. I found the dealer the cheapest for oil in can $5.70/L
