2017 Tacoma "How to disable seatbelt Chime" easy way!

Aloha all,

I am not sure what Toyota was thinking with the chime, ding ding ding! Blah!! That drove me crazy, didn't they ever think when you are moving the truck or driving off-road or in crawl mode, the darn ding sound would drive people crazy?



Here is the fix. Plug this guy into your diag port, and download the Iphone App, and select the option to turn that darn thing off. There are also allot of other things you can adjust, like auto blinker 2, 3 , 4 etc, I moved mine to 4, its nice having the extra blink

I got this from amazing, for 30 bucks, you have to buy the app for 60 bucks, but it works on any truck, so you "could use" it on other friends truck...

Nice. This has been addressed in at least a couple of threads previously. The Carista fix has worked well for others also.

 

Or spend $0 and have your Toyota dealership disable the seat belt chime. Just have to ask them nicely

 

Call me crazy, but I don’t mind the chime. I robotically our on a seatbelt whenever I sit in a car, even if I’m not going anywhere, just a habit.

But the chime has reminded many of my passengers that theirs was off. Probably saved a few bucks worth of tickets imo

 

You could buy Toyota tech stream off Amazon for $50 and do the same thing plus have all the diag capabilities of a factory scanner.

 

Would putting a false seat belt buckle in the clip turn off the chime?

Thats exactly what I do. Keep a set of these from Amazon in the console.

 

Its in the manual under customizable options. It clearly states to see dealer to change this setting.
Some dealers are hesitant, but if Toyota printed it in the manual, there is not much the dealer can say.
That being said, I would not make a special trip to have it done. Its one of those things you list to have done during your first free sunshine service.

I found that if you click and unclick your seat belt 3 times it turns the chime off till you restart the truck. I think it might be written in the manual.

Just saw this on another thread. I bought two 3" rigid seatbelt extenders from Amazon for $15.
