Add me to the list. Went in last Tuesday for 15k service and mention that I have notice seeping on my rear diff, 2017 offroad.

Picked it up and the service order noted gaskets and parts on order. They let me drive it home. Are parts still hard to get? Anyone know how long it takes (wrenching time)?

From what I have heard, parts are readily available now. Once they get the part, it should only take a day to install the gaskets. Need to get up the courage to look under mine!

Gaskets are great from a serviceability point, I wish I could get to ditch the gastket and use Permatex "the right stuff, 1 minute gasket maker" so I know its taken care of (forever :)).

Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket No. 3. A light brushing on both sides of the gasket. Even makes old Brit bikes oil tight. Well, with a little Yamabond 5 on the base gaskets!

You could use something as simple as dish soap and a rag or some simple green. Any degreaser will remove the oil stains. Then just watch for new ones.

    Update on mine...
Took it in on Wednesday of this week for its inspection of the new wet spot. Diff was fixed a year ago under the recall and was completely dry (not wet spots) for 8 months.
Their diagnosis this time was that who ever repaired it a year ago didn't clean it off.o_O
When I picked it up from the recall it looked brand new and completely clean. They cleaned it off and want me to come back in a 1000 miles for reinspection.

I am considering buying the Cx5. Does the driver sit lower in the Rav 4 vs the Cx5? I am not interested in the Rav, but just wondering. Thank you! Congratulations on the new car!

My 2018 just started weeping, going in next week for the repair. Looks like this is still an issue on new trucks as well.

I noticed my taco had some moist-looking spots on the rear diff. Took it in and the dealer ordered the necessary parts to fix it. Going in next week for the repair.

Man, that's so hard to believe they still haven't fixed such a problem 3 model years in. I had chalked a lot of my issues up to being in the first full year of production (I had an early '17 built in summer '16) but leaky diffs still not fixed 3 years in. Good luck! interested to hear if you just get a "new" gasket. makes me wonder if these replacement gaskets are gonna hold up any better than the original ones.

There’s plenty of members on here that had the new gasket put in and it still leaks (seaps).

I’m wondering if they’re just using the same gaskets as the factory.

Just checked mine and it looks similar but maybe not as big. Is it supposed to be completely dry?

just got done at San Luis Obispo Toyota, according to my vin my truck is not under the recall. rear diff still leaked. service department gave me the run around and said its not leaking. i asked how i got the stains on the diff and they said idk maybe moisture? hahaha bright guys i tell you. also asked how my rear diff fluid was low and they said they had no idea. hahaha dont take your truck to SLO Toyota if your on the central coast. Hoping Santa Maria has a better service department.

What's the turn around for when you drop it off and get it back? I just dropped mine off this morning and they said they were going to order parts that will take about a week but I'm afraid it will take longer.

Hard to say but I'll bet it's faster than my 67 days last summer when there were no parts to be had. I was the second one in and #1 traded his vs. waiting. Surely they're much better off now. Once the parts are there, it can be done in a day. Good luck.
