I’ll submit my entry early this week:
    52C38619-E747-41DF-99B6-9C5192B4D364.jpg
Western Screech Owls (I think), in Grand Junction, Co.
    121mm, ISO 1250, f/5.6, Exp 1/160.

Maybe not as cool as a Mountain Lion, but not as scary either. These guys let me get within 10 feet or so.

Nice! Yea they are screech owls, and I think you are right they are western not eastern. They are juveniles, that's probably why they let you get so close. Probably a nest nearby. They frequently nest in old woodpecker holes.

It didn’t seem to bother them, so I got a few shots and gave them their space.

I don't care if you win or not, that picture is a keeper and rare in my experience! Great pair of hooters I don't care who you are.... Right place at the right time welcome to wildlife pictures :D

Purchased a Pentax K-3 body, actual 2 of them, back about the time this thread started. To document the impact the overpopulation of wolves were having on Moose in Mn. the DNR wasn't admitting to much at the time. And needed something that could handle sub zero temps knew from Nam and the Gulf that Pentax could take extremes. To the credit of the DNR they were waiting for more statistical data before coming to the same conclusion that those of us who spend in the woods already knew. 300mm with a 1.4x TC is about the best I can do without spending a fortune however. I do a lot of stalking, not to harvest anymore but try to get a picture.

Long story short ended up taking pictures of wildlife I don't really care so much for the other aspects of photography except fidelity. And this thread has taught me a lot of the technical details. One of these days will end up building a run and gun with a focus light so I can take night time pictures of owls, as that is when they normally are out. 10 feet with a 121mm in the day you have to be chitting me...

The end of May got to see a fawn being dropped by Mom from my deck when I was working from home.

Right place at the right time. Still around and enjoy watching it grow up. If the situation presents itself will try to get a picture this week. I also like sneaking up on Eagles at the river and getting as close as I can and taking a picture before they flush. Haven't been to the river yet this year and am due. More times than not it is a bust. But always worth the trip to try and get a shot of a Baldie.

Great job and thanks for the encouragement. Odds are there is wildlife, and some great pictures to be had, in most peoples backyard.

Well I’m out on wildlife. Unless household pets count. So I’m pretty sure I’m out. Unless I find a cute lil birb hanging somewhere. But I doubt it. I’ll be day drinking tomorrow and working overtime Saturday. Single for the first time in 4 years so it’s been interesting lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Edit: shit I should have rented a 400mm because there’s a bald eagle that nested a few towns over I’m dumb. Then again didn’t know this would be a challenge.

Dont give up so soon, theres a few days left.

And in NY... I'm guessing you can find some humans who would classify as wildlife. :D

Dude I would crop the doe, that brush makes a gorgeous frame. Granted I guess it depends on full frame or not quality wise

Well, I wanted to start participating with you all this week, but I haven't been able to get any pictures of wildlife. Not even a rabbit.

I even had a couple of female whitetails with fawns jump out in front of me while driving to work. I was too busy braking and laying on the horn to snap a picture.

You still have 25 hours. Don't make excuses yet. :p

I might not have a picture of a critter yet.. But you can bet your pet chicken that I'll make up a wildlife story to go along with a non wildlife picture if i don't find anything in the next 27 hours.
