First aid kit isn't a bad idea
Water, extra clothes/shoes, lunch, some guys take bug spray.

Freeze some water bottles to throw in a cooler and some of your 14 cup holders.

@Subway4X4 you got a noob list on file.

No go. The noob list of the NOOBS is over 3 dozen pages long.

I would go with the suggestions on the first post of this thread.

Additionally, make sure you have solid recovery points front and rear. Many noobs have little to no recovery gear. And that’s ok. But if you don’t have recovery points on your truck, then the recovery Pros in your group won’t be able to help you out. The scrawny loops used to tie down vehicles during cargo ship transport don’t count as recovery points.

Also, If you have food allergies, asthma, bee allergies, pollen, etc. make sure you bring your specific meds for that. Inhalers, epipen, insulin is not a regular carry item for most peeps.

I’ve got an extinguisher and I’ll get myself a cb. The truck is bone stock so I’ve only got what recovery points come on it. I don’t plan on anything crazy. Just some dirt on the tires and learn something new about off roading and the truck.

I do have an open passenger seat, in case you (or anyone else) would want to park the truck and ride along in any of the harder spots.

Do you have a rear hitch receiver?

You can invest in one of these and then you’re covered, both front and rear.

I appreciate that. I’m coming with my 7 year old son and maybe a friend and his kid. So we’ll just hang out on the beginner trails.

Does the silver material help keep the contents cooler, or is it to keep the NSA from spying on you?

    It’s my reflective SOS device.

I open it up to catch air rescue attention, if I’m solo stuck in the middle of nowhere (high possibility), and I have no means to get unstuck (unlikely), or I run out of water (very unlikely) or food (extremely unlikely.)

But I guess it might keep the stuff cooler (it’s reflective on both sides.)

The NSA tracks me in other ways. :)

I actually needed some thin padding to keep the bouncing and noise down. This was the only thing I had (I’m cheap.)

I don’t believe this is true. I know the OP states that it is. Unless Rausch has changed their policy, they do not require you to carry a fire extinguisher.

Obviously, it’s a good idea. As of last year, not a requirement.

It’s not a requirement of Rausch. It’s a requirement of NTC, the group that is hosting the Takeover.
    http://www.toyotacrawlers.com/mandatory.html

Also, excerpt from first page of of this thread:
“A fire extinguisher is a requirement, if you plan to run, then bring one along, or you will find yourself sitting in camp. Imagine being deep inside the park when your truck catches fire, and all you can do is step back and watch it burn...go buy a 10 dollar fire extinguisher from wal-mart, or home depot.”

Yeah. Like I said. Not a requirement. You sign in at the Rausch office. You only see the NTC guys at the raffle and when you pick up your T-shirts. Their rules don’t mean anything. Only Rausch’s.

No one from NTC is going to check your truck. Even if they did, no one from NTC can keep you off the trails.

Like I said. It’s dumb to not have an extinguisher. I have one. It’s not a requirement.

UNLESS Rausch has changed their rules.

I believe we are attending the Toyota Takeover, which is hosted by NTC.

At least, that is what I believe I am attending.

So I follow the rules of the host.

And I believe that the Toyota Takeover is the main topic of this particular thread.
