Listening to the news out of a Sac TV station a few days ago, interviewing a Forest Service rep, stating nine out of ten fires in the Lake Tahoe area were man caused. Please be careful out there, whether it be a campfire (when legal) or recreating. Be aware of conditions. Some forests are already only allowing campfires in CG's where a host is on site. Don't burn me out of my home (Plumas NF).

And when you do have a legal fire, don’t leave it smoldering and call it good enough either. Drown it. Oh, and that’s why you bring a shovel, to stir and make sure your fire is out.

Yes. Sometimes I don't have a fire because I don't have any spare water to drown a fire with.
