You can fit any size tire (within reason obviously) on any size lift if you do enough cutting. Lift doesn't help clear larger tires because you want to be able to clear throughout the whole range of motion:full droop to full stuff.

The wider the tire, the more cutting necessary but a 33x12.5 is definitely do able. A CMC is a must as well as cutting plastic and maybe hammering the pinch weld.

You can fit 35s on a 3" lift because width is really what causes you to rub, and not so much the height. You just need to cut the fender and flares up an inch or two, massage back the firewall with a sledgehammer, and do what I mentioned earlier. It's a lot of work.

Yeah I would definitely NOT recommend cutting up your UCAs haha he should have gotten wheels with proper backspacing or just run some wheel spacers. And yes, there are some people who run 37s on these trucks with only a 3" lift. The truck behind him has measly 33s on it.

35s or larger require fender chopping. And the proper backspacing just helps to keep the tire off of the suspension components. Ideally you want the minimum wheel width that the tire can safely mount on, and the highest amount of backspacing to clear the suspension components. That's how you keep rubbing to a minimum.

And no, the tires aren't guaranteed to fit with a DB lift. A CMC is still a very real possibility.
Some LT kits move the tire about 2" farther forward which helps with firewall clearance, but god damn that's an expensive route to take to just clear some tires.

Do a search for 35s. There are dedicated threads for people running 35s and many describe how they did them.

Another factor is caster. You need at least +4 caster so you need an UCA that can be adjusted out that far.

The problem is ultimately the dang body mount.

CMC, bang pinch weld, +4 caster, trim some fenders, heat mold or remove fender liner, proper backspacing of wheels.
