PrInSu Design Studio Roof Racks BS Thread

Two-three weeks from order to arrival but I had to wait an extra week due to work trip

 

This is the closest I could find in the search engine for my question....
I have a pre-CBI Prinsu rack and I also have the cargo rack, also Prinsu designs. I want to keep the cargo rack but need to make it smaller in width. If I take one of the crossbars and cut it, carefully, will the holes already be tapped or will I have to do that myself?

 

You will have to tap them. With that being said if you have a neat length in mind, they might already make your length in case you dont want to cut your current ones and tap them.

Personally I'd cut and tap, but I have a bandsaw and a tapset already.

I just got 14 bars in that I ordered that I have to cut to length and tap. Do not ask me why I bought 14 x 48" bars. Not sure how many I will end up putting in my shell rack. 6' cap so I am guessing 8-9 bars.

 

If anyone has a ARE MX shell and can’t use a Prinsu on it like mine, PM me if you want a free copy of my “Prinsuish” looking RtwoDtoo rack laser CNC file. I used a free CAD program from emachineshop.com to design it and they lasercut it for me out of aluminum about $140 total. Emachineshop also offers powdercoating, but I painted mine with bedliner paint as I probably will want to touch it up with use. I used three of the same 48” long aluminum T-bars as my Prinsu Cabrack, and like the Prinsu, designed the holes in it to easily mount an ARB awning to it, and bolted the rack onto my Yakima tracks that came with the ARE MX shell:

I have an ARE shell but it is cab level, so I am gonna take a straight edge clamp it to my cabrac and figure out the height for my shell cross bars. I might buy the side plates from Beachboy if available and will be the right size. I still haven't put my headliner back in yet with this surgery thing and all. Soon, very soon.

 

I went through some trial and error to mount a Baja Designs S8 light bar.

First of all, the brackets that come with the S8 are both too short and too wide to use on the wind fairing crossbar, and none of the predrilled crossbar holes on the rack allow mounting the light bar in any usable place.

I ended up buying Rigid E-series mounting brackets and they worked great. I also bought the L series which I’m pretty sure would work too ($10 cheaper) but kept the E series because it’s the first package I opened, and it’s curved, and it sits FLUSH with the fairing

In the picture, the crossbar is mounted on the most forward two holes in the “+” and it is PERFECT!

 

I ordered my Prinsu July 18th and the Sales order gave me an estimated Ship date of August 7th, so about 4 weeks.

Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the 5' and 6' toprac?
I'm interested in the overall length as well as the spacing of the bars (even the distance from end bar to end bar would work).
I have an ARE MX and I'm trying to plan out a custom setup.

 

Does tacomaworld get a discount on Prinsu racks? I'm about ready to order one for my shell and cab.

 

i'm selling a prinsu toprac for 600 if anyone wants it. 6ft. only mounted for 1 month.

If I remember when I get home in a few hours and it’s not raining I’ll measure my 6’ one.

 

Anybody have issues with their rack rubbing their roof? I feel like the bushings should be longer the ones I have.

What holes did you use on the load panel to attached the maxtrax mounting pins?

 

What's the consensus on the new pre-slotted load bars? Are they standard with all orders now?
