Howdy, I first wanna thank y'all at Tacoma World for helping me figure out getting my 33s on my taco. I've been lurking since June when I bought my truck, and have lifted and swapped out my factory wheels for some 33x12.5 tires on some 16x10 steelies.

I started up to test it last night and was met with grinding, stopped immediately and saw the calipers were rubbing on the rims. I've got a 5mm generic spacer from Autozone on there atm to prevent the rub, but I'm not happy with the lack of thread retention on the studs and will be swapping back to the factory tires until I can get some hub-centric spacers and longer studs in.

Which brings me to my plea - I read a post about someone who did this, 5mm spacers with longer studs, but I cannot find that post anymore, after about 2 hours of searching. I'm also struggling to find 5mm spacers for our 6-lug wheels online, so I'm asking y'all for some recommendations.

Couple notes: 1) I know spacers are not the greatest solution, but I'm hoping to buy some time while I save up for either new wheels, or maybe a caliper retrofit (another post I read that I cannot find now), aaaand 2) I'm not grinding my calipers.

Thanks for any assistance or recommendations (and links?) y'all have to offer =]

Ok found a handy video on taking the hub plate off your wheel hub to get the studs out:
    https://youtu.be/TtNb9wKG08U

He's working on the rear wheels, with drum brakes, can anyone confirm if it's about the same for the front wheels w/disc brakes?

Pretty sure it's the same, you just have to remove the disc brake (just hang it with some wire out of the way) and knock the studs out. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, right, calipers - so you're saying I have to remove the caliper assembly first?

Pretty sure I made a horseshoe with some steel and tacked it on a wood clamp so the hollow area Sat over the stud and I could crank the clamp and push the stud out.

Yeah just hang it out of the way, then I'm pretty sure you can knock out the studs in the space left by the now removed caliper.

Moar updates - I picked up the studs today from Oreilly's:
    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...4181357?q=+M12-1.50+Serrated+Wheel+Stud&pos=0

    specs:
    • Thread Size: M12-1.50
    • Style: Serrated Stud
    • Length In/mm: 55mm
    • Shoulder Length In/mm: 26.6mm
    • Quick-Start Nose: No
    • Thread Handing: Right Hand
    • Material: Steel
    • Knurl Diameter (In): 0.559 Inch
    • Under Head Length (In): 2.165 Inch

These work perfectly for my cheapo Autozone 1/4" spacers, which I'll swap out for some baer billets once I get those sourced and milled.

Notes on putting the studs in - I'd read different approaches to getting the longer studs into the hub stud holes. The brake shield plate is in the way, but when I removed the 4 retaining bolts on the shield plate I was able to wrangle it at enough of an angle that I could get the 55mm studs in, without grinding the studs down or mangling/bending the shield plate. Also I went for open-ended lug nuts, so I can see how much engagement I've got. At the 55mm length with a 1/4" spacer, the studs are coming out nearly flush to the end of the lug nuts, a perfect fit.

I had one pain point on getting the new studs in - I couldn't get the last 1mm of gap to close up on the studs, so currently there is around a 1mm gap between the stud head and the back of the hub. I wrenched the crap outta each one, through several rounds around, got them as close as I dared without breaking any studs. I figure I'll have the tire place seat them the rest of the way when I go in for tire balancing and alignment, and I'll keep checking them between now and then.
