If you’re trying to drop weight, eat small portions, low calorie low sugar, higher carbs. Carbs will be for your workouts. Try to do heavy weights 2 hrs at a time 3-5 times a week with cardio after every session. On your rest days do an hour of cardio. Cut out all alcohol as well

I can't stress the mindset enough. Working out requires self discipline which is the key to success.
Also, if you're not a team player learn to be one. The military is a team the lone wolf shit will get you in trouble during basic.

MEPS tip, keep your mouth shut about meds and minor injuries/problems inciuding counseling. Trust me they won't find out. I did two branches with a prior back injury that would have DQd me.
Look up Paul Howe Delta Operator. First time he tried to enlist he got DQd for asthma. He waited two years kept his mouth shut and had a full career.

Once again memorize the General Orders.;)

That’s good! One less thing that you hopefully don’t have to worry about. Another thing to consider is that the service is male dominant. Hate to put it black and white but I hope you don’t mind being around a Bunch of dudes all the time and dealing with our sense of humor. Seen a lot of women that have an issue with it, but I’ve also seen a lot of women that adapt well and are hard chargers. Might be good to get a female perspective from someone that’s in the service if you haven’t already

I'll be honest if I had to choose between being around a bunch of guys or two girls I would choose the guys. I hate the drama that comes along with girls.

Any tips for meeting with recruiters? Not just CG, going to see Army, CG, Air Force, and possibly navy.
I'm not sure what I want to do, my civilian background is :college degree (associates in applied science, welding and cutting technology), operating heavy equipment, and maintaining heavy equipment. Career choice after I get out would be local law enforcement.
Never taken the ASVAB but looking forward to it, college buddies (one former Mil, one active reserves) think I'll score well so I'm excited to see what I get.

Go take that ASVAB. If you have an AS, Army/Navy/Marines would be happy to see you, AF would be a maybe but if you went secfo, whatever, and CG would be kinda okay, annndd....

Gunners Mate looks very interesting, as does Maritime enforcement Specialist.

Edit: scored an 82 on the practice ASVAB with the Army, with a little studying I should be able to bump it up.

Both are fun gigs, depending on posting. Some GMs, all they do is armory and marksmanship stuff, others go do stuff like LEDETs and TACLETs and whatnot.

Same for MESs, subject matter experts doing training, tactical fun things, etc.

Could you explain LEDET's and TACLET's?

I'm a gun guy through and through, built my first AR at 16, set up a trust and registered an SBR at 19, first suppressor at 20, so even being simply an armorer without additional duties would be awesome (especially on a boat).

Heh, more like cleaning gear after folks shoot them, running ranges, etc.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_Enforcement_Detachments
    https://www.atlanticarea.uscg.mil/Our-Organization/Area-Units/TACLET/

Teams that go deploy on naval vessels, etc, and go do law enforcement using USCG authority.
