Just wanted to show everyone how contaminated my paint was after I washed my truck this morning. For those not familiar with this product, it attacks the iron deposits found in paint usually caused by rail dust and other contaminates in the air. Noticed my paint feeling a lot smoother after I rinsed the product off.

It was my first time using this product on the truck. I’m glad I used this product before claying, otherwise I would’ve used 2 clay bars probably.

Stuff is a little too expensive for me to dump on my whole truck.

Hopefully my clay bar removes it all.

Its no worse than other products as far as price plus it doubles as wheel cleaner too.

It really wasn’t that expensive. I ordered a 32oz bottle for $25 after 25% off with free shipping from Autogeek. I used maybe 1/8 of the bottle on the entire truck so it goes a long way. You can also use it to clean wheels. I sprayed my wheels with this stuff and hit it with a pressure washer. Wheels came out 95% clean with no scrubbing, which is good enough for me.

Glad i saw this, i will definitely be using this product when i finally detail my truck. Just wasn't sure if it was safe to spray all over the truck like that.

I've used 3D BDX for iron decontamination on my paint & wheels for several years now. $16.99 for 24 oz (3D BDX) vs $19.99 for 16 oz (Iron X). Wait until Autogeek has another 25% off sale.

Yeah it’s safe. I sprayed the entire truck from top to bottom. You just have to make sure to not let it dry.

I used this today on my truck. Its good stuff smells horrible though lol.
The idea is to use it before clay to remove contaminants that can cause damage while claying. Honestly I think it could eliminate the need for frequent claying, its that good.

Yeah this stuff smells something awful but like you said, it’s very effective. I would still follow up with a clay bar since chemical decontamination doesn’t remove everything embedded in the paint.

I use a clay mitt / nanoskin for 99% of the paint, and clay bar in the little spots I can't get with the mitt, also use clay on windows and windshield and it works great. The IronX is good and I think could take the place of clay sometimes but not completely. Definitely nice for decon if you have a ceramic coating and you dont wanna clay the car.

More noticeable on white but I use it on my mgm also. Works good. It is ceramic coating safe also

I dont hace ceramic. Maybe some day. If I did I'd probably stick with the IronX and not use clay but I'm not sure, maybe its compatible

I have a bottle of this stuff too. I wash my truck often enough that I have yet to have it do the same thing to my paint. I use it on my wife's painted wheels but hesitate to apply it to my new matte wheels on the Taco. Also, it smells absolutely horrible.

Doesn’t matter how much you wash it, you will still have fallout embedded in your paint.

I don't disagree with you about that. I just meant that so far when I have used the iron-x on my paint work I haven't gotten the dark purple results that some others get.
