I replaced by 10+ year old saggy suspension last year with 5100 lift with an aal in the rear. Got a the expected amount of lift all around and am more than happy with how it looks. However the ride is extremely stiff and jarring and the truck doesn't seem to soak up bumps in the road at all. I do still have my sway bar connected, because I daily drive this truck and need it to handle well. What are my options for fixing this? Also is it possible to lower the front shocks one notch, my CVs are taking a beating?

It says right on the website that’s it’s not for 4 cyl trucks.

Literally, on the site it says if you have a 2.7L truck they don't recommend the lift due to the harsh ride.

Replacing it with the proper parts is the best solution.

Of course. It will help the ride by reducing preload too. But likely not enough to make you happy, and you'll reduce your 'look' as well.

He just needs different coils. Rock some OME 880's and sell off the other coils.

Thread is a couple years old but yeah...620lb coils on a 4cyl truck without any added armor weight is gonna suck real bad.

Yeah coils are too stiff, I knew that going in. Just didn’t know how stiff they would be. Might also be some worn body mount bushings, cause I have a clunk a haven’t been able to track down and it doesn’t seem to be suspension related. They did break in after I put about 15k miles on them, but it is still stiff. It rides like a truck what can I say, not gonna complain about it cause I’m not daily driving it right now. But when I was daily driving it, well, let’s just say a 20 year old truck isn’t gonna be a great daily driver regardless...

I’ve been planning to put a bumper and winch on for years now but have been busy with school and now starting work. That should make it ride a bit better. I also did send an email to Toytec and sent them a video of what I was experiencing. They said it seemed pretty normal and expected for a 2.7L

I also still have my sway bar on which isn’t great on trails and gravel

Bumper and winch should really help, but really a 620lb coil is more for a v6 with a bumper and winch. It might still be stiff even after you add the weight but it will definitely help.

How’s that possible though? The engines are pretty close in weight. 420lbs for the 5vz and 381lbs for the 3rz...not sure if that’s a fully dressed engine or not

Probably not then, I didn't realize the two were that close in weight

Right? That's why I was initially confused when I bought it..they're close in weight and I can't think of anything else the V6 would have that the 4cyl doesn't. Maybe 4wd...Auto vs manual??

There could be more that goes into the front end weight yeah, but the difference isn't that big...that being said I think a 620lb coil is even pretty stiff for a 6cyl let alone a 4cyl. I have 600# coils on my Kings and they are pretty stiff even with a front bumper + skids.

Ride quality is subjective though and everyone has a different feel for what they like, once you add weight to your front end it will help. And you can decide from there if it's still too stiff or not
