Searched and cant find a thread so ill start.

Have plex, been great until the last day or so. Movie posters wont download. I have tried everything i know to do and what i have read. It just pulls a thumbnail from the movie itself not the poster. It is getting metadata from what i can tell.

Anyone help?

Was it after an update? This happens to me after an update. There is a setting for movie art. I forget where it's at. Sometimes I'll just google a pic and insert it manually.Some updates reset all settings. Very annoying.

 

I believe there is a glitch in the latest Plex version, as this has started happening to me as well. The problem is that your show/movie is not being "matched" to the matching asset in the TVDB/The Movie Database. Both are service that indexes and provides "posters"/episode descriptions ("metadata") to Plex or other apps.

To fix this:
1. Select the show/movie with missing/inaccurate metadata.
2. Click on the "..." ("more") from the top level show menu.
3. Select "Fix Match..." from the options.
4. Select "Search Options" and try searching for the correct asset.
5. If the correct result doesn't show (which I believe is because of the a recent Plex bug), try going to https://thetvdb.com and searching for the show there. Copy and search for the "TVDB.COM MOVIE ID" in Plex, and the correct match should come up. (I'm sure there's a similar process for movies and the movie databases, but I've only had to do this for shows so far)

Have been using plex for about 2 years now and love it, hopefully your issue is just a simple update needed, I've never had that problem.

 

Just getting into PLEX, thinking about trying to put together a budget system as a server. Spent the last few days figuring out or should I say trying to figure out how and where to get content and trying to set it up to auto load content I’m looking for.

 

Typically a bunch of VMs with sonarr/lidarr/etc.

 

I can get some things working, others not so much. Some places need invites or some thing to that effect.
I’ve spent a few days bouncing from one rabbit hole to the next, as soon as I understand what to do with one program, it seems another is needed to keep the other going right. At one time, I was good a building and very basic running, but shit has moved forward a bunch.

 

What stage are you at? Are you doing all VMs for the various services? Um.. there's decent stuff on public trackers tbh. Look at the list in jackett.

 

VMs? Virtual machines? Right now I’m just using my desktop trying to figure out everything. Once I decide what direction I’m going to go, I’ll may set up a server. I’ve got sonarr and radarr I think are working ok. I have also got jacket going. Ohh, I think coach potato might be running as well. I haven’t messed with it for a few days.

 

I thought about this some more, if you are referring to containers, I can say I have messed with that a little but can not say I know if it’s working properly yet or not. I got a lot of learning to do. I should have read more before bouncing from video to video trying to sort through everything.

Yeah. While you could use docker and do all that stuff in VM on windows, it's just not as nice (or native).

 

Just build a cheap, headless Linux server. SSH and call it a day.

 

Just slapped plex on my NAS, and now i'im watching scrubs that I forgot I had That was easy!

 

I been a plex user for years. I don't have any very advanced setup. it just on a windoz desktop that I use for ripping DVD and blu rays and also some light home office stuff and web browsing. I jammed a few extra drives besides the M.2 the OS is on in it for files. I even found an app to pull shows from my TiVo, cut the commercials and re encode them to a more efficient size. I like how plex runs on so many devices, I can access it from my Tivos, firestick and phones and tablets.
I see that it can even do live Tv if you connect an HDHomeRun tuner. Since I'm also a cord cutter I am going to switch to that when the new ATSC 3.0 Nextgen Tv broadcast start in my area.

 

This thread needs resuscitation. Long time Plex user with lifetime license purchased back in v1.6-ish days. Run mine on an older Mac Mini and a couple of AppleTV units at the televisions.
