If you get a whip make sure you get a spring base. Then you can arch it down and out of the way when not in use. Cause it is stupid tall.

I ended up ordering a Wilson1000 62” whip magnet base antenna w/17’ coax. Should get me atleast 5-7 miles of broadcast and receiving range
I’m matching this set up with a uniden cmx660 compact cb radio.

I have an old Realistic TRC-423 radio and some random mag mount antenna...about 2.75/3 foot long. I have talked super clear 3 miles, can go 5 I am sure, maybe a little longer. Sorry I don't know the brand but the idea is to get as much antenna above the roof as possible

I was talking to a guy over 10 miles away the other day it wasn’t great quality but if you were in a life or death situation in the mountains you’d atleast convey your message

I had a 102" whip on my ranger before my tacoma. I got it from radioshack back in the day but I doubt they sell it anymore. I mounted it with a spring and pulled it down when I didn't need it, but it was just ridiculous. If it was up and hit a branch or something while driving it would go all over the place. It almost smashed into another car at one point. If you do go with one make sure you can control it.
