So much to read... 600 pages lol

I have read through alot but i got alot to go, so ill just ask...

I plan on getting the ome kit from headstrong. 887s and hd dakars, ome shocks and whichever ucas come with the kit. That won't be for a while tho so im crossing other things off the list.

Are my oem brake lines going to be ok at full droop?

I know some people use a spacer/bracket but id rather replace them if it comes down to it.

From what I gathered, in the rear with the dakars if you go extended 5100 then you will need extended brake lines and upgraded bump stops, if you go ome nitrochargers you will not.

Sorta what im gathering too. I had planned to go nitro's. So in theory i should be ok at full droop. But nothing would suck more than to be out in the forest and pop a brakeline off lol

So id like to be 100%.

You're 100%. You don't need them with nitrous. They're cheap though so get them if you want them.

Yeah they seem to be pretty straight forward. However, my lack of a garage and proper tools, combined with my overthinking of things. Will no doubt lead to a clusterfuck of me trying to replace them and bleed my brakes myself. So, ill probably leave them alone when i get my lift. Adding them to the list of things to do when its time to redo my brakes/flush my fluids.

Are you paying to get your lift done? If so it probably wouldn't cost more than an hour of extra labor to get it done.

Still kinda on the fence about that. It wont be for another year or so either way. Dont know any shops off hand that i trust. Will potentially call upon local TW brethren or pony/lube up for the stealership

Was looking at wheelers brake lines @ +4"
I figure why not go +4 instead of +2

Theres tons of good info on here plus good ol youtube videos. I managed to get mine done by myself with only oil change and brake job experience.
You got a year of research to build confidence:thumbsup:

Ok... been a tacoma owner for a long long time. Ran the Icon stage 2 extended travel system on my 08 for years. Just switched to a 2018 and bought the OME Kit with the sport shocks and 887 coils. I work a LOT in Australia, Borneo, PNG etc and everyone there runs OME shocks and its considered top of the line. So my question is...

Why do you guys run 5100's on the 887's etc over the OME shocks? What is the issue the Tacoma has with the OME shocks?

    Issue?
I have many people who go back and forth between the Bilstein 5100’s and the OME’s. What typically differs from the Bilstein 5100 kits and the OME kits is the shocks themselves. Most of the other components stay the same (some of the coils and rear lift options). Since this is the case I find it helpful to compare the shocks side-by-side, this way you can see which ones would be suit your specific needs.

Some of the differences between the OME nitrocharger sport shocks and Bilstein 5100 shocks are below:

Bilsteins are a steel body that has been coated with their triple-C coating which seems to hold up better in the elements the powder coating that OME’s has on their steel shocks.

There are two different OME struts available the standard 90000 which are the firmest and the 90021 soft ride struts. The Bilsteins fall in the middle as far as valving is concerned.

The OME’s have a slightly larger shock diameter then the Bilsteins.

The Bilsteins are a monotube shock and the OME are twin tube.

The Bilsteins can run the OME coils but if you wanted to run the OME 886, for weight either now or down the line, the 5100’s and those coils are not best paired together. If that were ever going to be the case with your build then OME would be a better fit.

The OME shocks have an internal component which can be noisy at times. Some people refer to it as the “speed bump clunk.” The Bilsteins do not have this same component design.

The OME rear shocks will work the Dakar pack and not require bump stop modification or longer brake lines but they limit the amount of droop you see from the Dakar leaf pack. The standard length Bilstein 5100’s really should be used with one of the add-a-leafs or a block up to 1.5”. The extended length RCD/Bilsteins will also work with the Dakar leaf pack but longer brake lines are needed and possible bump stop modification but you get more droop from the pack.

Awesome answer. Isn't the OME shock stronger too? I'm looking at my 90021's and they appear thicker in every aspect. I guess I just don't understand why anyone would go with the Bilstien when the OME's seem to me at least better in every aspect.

Never have I been truly happy with ADD a leafs although "wheelers 3 leaf HD pack" was amazing with my Icon lift. Just went the the Dakars this time and going to limit myself with the OME rears. Rambling I know. Just don't see how the 5100's are better in anyway other than the option to change the spring mounting but that can be compensated for by buying longer coils and you have to take them apart anyway to change out the cup location?

yes they are stronger and they are nitrogen charged unlike the 5100s

like my picture showed i went with the extended fox 2.0 in the rear for full droop too. gonna be busy installing all this when the weekend comes front and rear shocks, dakars, ECGS bushing, bumpstops, brake lines, lower control arms, upper ball joints.

Well you run 5100 at zero so that part is out of the equation too.

I have blown out a few nitros on my front setup and next round will go 5100s.

In the end it's a disposable part and cheap and both do basically the same job about as well.
