Wow - that turned out great! I'd recommend coating the hell out of it before putting it back together - POR-15 and some internal frame coating is much easier to do while that box is off!

2 coats POR-15 and Fluid Film in the box section. Decided is was a good time for new leafs and shocks since I had to cut the old mount out, also much easier project with the bed off.

Got my first damage to the truck the other day. Drive on beach in Delaware, got stuck in the soft sand going in (didn't air the tires down - my bad). As I was airing down the tires a guy in an old beater fishing truck didn't feel like waiting the 3 minutes it would take me to finish airing down the tires and decided to drive around me. Unfortunately there wasn't enough room and the wonderful old man dragged his fender flares from his old rust bucket across the passenger side of my truck while I was crouched down. Wife screamed out but by the time I got around he had passed me and was driving off. Didn't get his plates.

Damage was relatively minor - scrapped off some paint near the tail light (down to the primer coat) and then scratched the hell out of my flares. Both should be fairly easy repairs.

    Hey Cnote,

I just ordered my set, but I'm not seeing the image you are referencing.

Ouch that sucks...I had similar damage but worse happen to my 04 back when it was still pristine...from my girlfriend's apartment gate. It closed on my truck as I was pulling out of the driveway and dragged across the bedside. I was livid especially because the manager refused to do anything about it because "non-tenants aren't supposed to be parking in the lot" (even though I had permission from her to use her spot). The gate's sensor was faulty but he never owned up to any fault.

I ended up using black bedliner (the kind you paint on with a brush) on my black fender liners and it works great and looks great...stays black and is easy to clean, plus it's more durable and can take more of a beating.

Are your Stubbs Welding sliders mounted at 7.5 or 15 degrees?

Frankly I'm not sure - I sent Richard at Stubbs Welding a picture of my truck to verify that I was getting the right set and he built them accordingly - they were simply welded directly to the frame at that point. Here's a picture from the side at the level of the frame if that helps...

For what it’s worth here, I built mine with 15 degrees as nobody made sliders for a RC shortbed at the time.
I did order a new set from Marlin Crawler that are beefier than what I made. They too have 15 degrees built into them.
Pics to follow after I install them.

Thank you, @standard. That helps a lot. I just ordered a set of Stubbs HD-SKO's. I love the subtle kickout on those. I bought sliders with full kickouts from another company before. They looked good in photos on the internet, but mocked up on my truck they stuck out really far past my skinny tires and looked goofy.

No problem! They are great sliders. The kick out is really subtle but just enough to also serve as a step to access the front of the roof rack on my shell.
