I purchased my 2016 Toyota Tacoma certified. I’m looking out bed covers and I noticed there’s a notch towards the rear of the bed rail system. Not sure why previous owner cut these, but I think I may be screwed on mounting a bed cover. Can I get these replaced under a certified warranty?, Or is there a cover system that would work without using their part of the bed rail question. Thanks 9DDECC37-D887-41B0-BA16-9A8B9C46A6FD.jpg

Ouch... Looks like they took a cutoff wheel to that rail to notch it. Did you notice and annotate that damage to the bed itself before you purchased? If not, doubt there is any recourse.

I have the Tyger tri-fold one that I purchased from Amazon. It would have an issue with that notch so I'd skip that one.

Good luck sorting out which bed cover you can use.

Unfortunately, I did not notice it when I purchased. This really sucks, not sure what to do. Thanks

Only thing you can do is replace that rail. They are relatively inexpensive. It's worth asking your selling dealer if you can swap one from another truck they have or get them to buy you a new one. Don't get your hopes up though. I would frame my argument around the fact that ANY existing damage like this should have been repaired during the certification process. You ponied up the extra cash for a higher quality certified used vehicle, after all.

Unfortunately you are stuck with the gouge marks from the cutoff wheel in the bed side.

Why are some people such hacks?

luckily the damage to the bed looks to be mostly cosmetic... You could just buy a used set of rails to replace the notched ones and fill the those two areas in the side of the bed with a black plastic epoxy to hide it and you'd likely never know it was there at a glance... Don't fret too much, but welcome to the forum.

maybe you could get some bed liner spray to cover up the scars, probably have to do the whole bed but it'll look beter

You're probably stuck with it like that and may need to replace the rails and patch the notches like others have said here. If you don't live to far from the dealer I would go by and show it to them to see what they say. The worse thing that could happen is they don't do anything or they may give you new rails. Worth a try if the dealer is not to far from where you are.

Not sure what they cost, but they're called deck rails.

Thanks for the part number TSMOOVE. Just ordered the part. Purchase the truck four hours away and I can’t exactly stop by and explain what happened. $80 later with shipping part should be here in a week. Thanks to all
