When I bought my Tacoma it was a tough decision between a Wrangler and a Tacoma. Every time I have a project at the house, haul lumber or steel for a project I am reminded that I made the right choice.

Today I had another reminder that tacomas are the way to go for a DIY'er who needs to haul stuff around and still play on the trails. I needed to unload some rock into the back yard but there was construction behind my house. With that construction there are large dirt berms that I needed to back over to position my truck as close as possible to my project site.

I couldn't haul this rock in a Jeep without a trailer and wouldn't have been able to back a trailer where I put my truck to do my work.

I'm loving my truck more and more every time I use it for its utility purpose.

Dude we are twins I sold my Jeep a few months back to buy a Tacoma. The jeep was amazing in college when it was just me but as I started working and buying furniture for my house and stuff it was awful. I’m so glad to have joined the Tacoma nation.

Yea, I have had 4 runners in the past. Never a Jeep though. I always told myself I would have a built 4 door Rubicon one day but I don't think I'm too interested anymore. Tacomas are pretty decent offroad with mild work done. I would love to do more offroad work to it when time and money allows though.

Thanks! It's staying prettier than I expected. I am not nice to it on trails but I do baby it when I get home. I'm pretty anal about maintenance so it gets a good lookover and some due attention when it's done with the trails.

Had a Jeep in college, switched to a solara after that was run over (tractor trailer vs Jeep is not a good match). Wanted a Tacoma then but didn't have the money for one, finally bought my Taco 2 years ago, Best Choice Ever! Only thing I would change is getting the DCLB 4x4 rather than the SB. Still happy with my choice though LOL

I have a little SR5 4 banger and like u said its great for doing these kind of projects and having a pick up bed with 4x4 capabilities makes it even better, plus its main purpose is as a Daily Driver, cant beat it.

I bought my taco nov.2016 2wd I put towards package on it and the first thing I did was hook up to an 18' car hauler and I loaded my 2005 ford Ranger on it and proceeded to haul it 60 miles to a friend's house who bought it . Hauled it at 70mph down the highway. Not recommended but hauled it just fine. Stopping was the issue . But we made it .

Another day of yard work. Hauled 700lbs of rock and backed into the same place. Gotta love a truck!

23 mpg? Where are you located? I'm in Prescott, AZ (5000ft) and get average of 15 mpg. I do however have a lift and 33's with stock gearing. If I had 4.88's or 5:29's then I would probably be closer to 17-18mpg.

That's really good! I'm guessing you drive it pretty calm too? I don't exactly drive mine like I stole it but I do get up to 10 over the speed limit in a decent manner.

Every time I think about trading mine in for a 4runner I remember how useful having a truck is. Even for a family of four plus dog. Beach trips and camping trips so easy with leaving the mess in the bed and packing up quickly.

I do drive it pretty pedestrian most of the time, but I wouldnt say all the time. It has more to do with my daily commute which is 25 miles each way of mostly straight 45-55 mph driving which is where these trucks seem to be most efficient.

Agreed - DCLB is worse offroad for breakover angle reasons but for day to day activities, that extra foot of bed space makes all the difference!

It's a homemade rack. Nothing special but I wanted something low profile that works with my rolling cover.
