Hello all, first post. So I'm completely new to the off roading world and lifted trucks in general, but I am now the proud owner of a 2012 Tacoma TRD OffRoad with a 3" lift and TRD wheels.

Currently there are 265/75/16s on the truck and it does fine. But I've got a desire to make changes and my question is could I run a 285/75/xx tire without changing any suspension components if I bought a wheel with a -10 offset. From a different post on here I found that my current wheels have a +10 offset. So is that 20mm difference enough to make up for a 20 mm wider tire??

Forgive me if that's a completely ignorant question and I appreciate any guidance in advance! Thanks!

Welcome. Post a pic of the truck!

A negative offset will help prevent the tire rubbing on the UCA, but you still have the pinch well and cab mount to worry about. Especially if you wheel.

Your solution; hammer the pitch weld and do a CMC (cab mount chop). Your local 4x4 shop should offer that service or you can ask in your regional forum. There might be a member who can do that for you for booze/food/bj's

PS, the search bar is super helpful. This question has been covered many times :hattip:

Thank you for the reply and the info!

Damn I spent half the afternoon running down negative offset on Google and not once did it dawn on me to use the TW search.... Thanks for the heads up!

Here's my baby day I brought her home, wanted a Taco for years and this is literally my dream truck. Looking forward to further improvements with the aid of this forum! truck.jpg
