It was a heck of a trip and one I’ll not soon forget. Thanks for the inspiration to get me out there for our first trip

Used to patrol on an island with free roamers. If we'd forget to arm the fence they would trample everything.

These are nice, but for the price, I think I’d have to live in one full time.

Why? Just don’t like them? I know where there’s a good deal on a couple of last years Taxa Wooly Bears. They’re not campers they’re trailers made for an rtt on top

No they just seem like a huge pain in the ass for where I want to go and the wheeling I want to do. I have decided a GFC is the best of all worlds to really let me take camping in my truck to the next level. But on the flip side of that, I have constantly put my bedside into tree's the past year or two on the passenger side, and I might muck up a GFC too. I'm still living the ground tent life, and while it can be a pain in the ass sometimes, it's nice to have a low rear end.

And considering how easy the trails are at FPK, taking an offroad trailer with me on the trails I like to do, just doesn't seem feasible.

Yep it’s all in finding what suits your needs. I’ve done my share of tent camping and it just wasn’t for me anymore at my age too many aches and pains. This works and I have no plans for anything overly difficult anyway

Definitely still trying to figure out exactly what suits my needs, and what I can afford lol. Getting a RTT of any kind would save my cab a ton of space. In a 1st gen extra cab, space is precious especially with a huge fridge in the back seat. Would eventually like to mod my bumper to a swing out to get the tire and cans out of the bed. Lots of plans, but can only do what funds and time allows.

When? Is there a trip coming up? I still have to figure out what I broke at Rausch 2 weeks ago. Snapped something in the ADD tube most likely, haven't dug into it yet. When I lock the front I have the driver tire spinning, when it's unlocked it's an open diff. CV spins okay on passenger side, so current theory is stub shaft, the fork that slides over, or something else.

My sister is due with my first nephew at the end of October, so I don't think it's very likely. But if I can make it, I will. Truck will def be fixed by then. Trying to plan some smaller weekend trips since I have nothing big I can plan anytime soon.

150 years ago it would have been bison, mule deer, whitetail, elk. And plenty of wolves, grizzlies, cougars, wolverines. There was competition for every bit of food. Hell, even if you were trying to catch a fish there were otters, mink, eagles that were much better equipped naturally to scoop one before you.

That had to be a hardscrabble life back then.

Yeah, trailers have their place among adventure setups. Looking at those pics, did you have a back out plan? A spot where you could turn the trailer around or back out?

The trail was narrow and it was my first time there so, no. I went with a buddy that had been several times. The trail was wide enough in places to unhook and turn the campers if need be. I still have a lot to learn which was a reason I went with somebody experienced. Mainly went with them though cause they’re great folks .

Back out plans are fun on forest roads. Best advice is practice backing up a lot. It's time consuming to back down a forest road to the next wide spot. My plan was to winch my own truck and trailer up the wash out, drive to the next wide spot, drop my trailer then go winch or tow Casper. We both made it though, so no practice backing or winching that day....
