where are you located? I'm in GR. Yankee springs isn't bad if you just want to tool around on some easy trails. They do offer a mud hole here and there if you are into that sort of thing.
Silver lake isn't a bad drive. If you watched a crash compilation from there it was most likely younger guys or Drunk guys. I sort of grew up going there, And ive never broken anything. You go as hard as you want or just put it in 2wd and just putt around.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
It's a state area to the east of Gun Lake Casino with about 35 miles of trails. When it's dry, like now, it is an easy 2WD run, little-to-no risk of pinstriping. In spring & fall when it's wet it is a lot more fun, and may need 4WD more often. In the winter ... it's all 4WD. There are camping and fishing and mountain biking opportunities, too. My son and I enjoy going there as it is close and fun. Is it Drummond Island? No way, not even close. Is it fun without really risking your $40,000 investment while still taking you where a regular vehicle can't go? Yep.

If you're in the West Michigan area I highly recommend joining Two Trackers (http://www.twotrackers.org/) and help us grow the non-Jeep ranks of the club! We go on a monthly ride that generally has a few rigs stuck, but always a way to avoid those spots if you prefer. We have a poke run this weekend, a few charity runs (Wheelin for a cure in September and the Jeep 4x4 Fest Military Edition), plus the guys get together often throughout the month for non-posted outings. The last one we went on was a trail ride from WhiteCloud to Baldwin which was a riot! A few night runs, a Silver lake run, and Colorful Cadillac - Ludington to Cadillac by trails in October.

We may need to pull a group together for a Yankee Springs fun-run next Saturday! We usually have a few Tacos, 4Runners, Land Cruisers, and FJ Cruisers on our runs.

Let's all do this run - September 29th in Dorr - http://www.twotrackers.org/wheelin-for-a-cure/. The run is a charity event for the childrens Special Day Camp, for hospitalized children to get a chance to enjoy summer camp. Two runs - sticks & bricks. Bricks is all on roads, no need for a real vehicle. Sticks has a lot of fun to it, and you'll get a chance to see an actual WWII POW camp. There's one spot (I drive it in my Taco) where pin-striping is pretty much happening, but all other areas are plenty wide but offer technical fun. Pass the word, let's overwhelm them with Toyotas of all models!

Special Days provides children dealing with cancer and leukemia with a camping experience created for their special needs. One week for the child who has or had cancer and one week for their siblings. It is a place for all the kids to just be kids! They also will come home with skills to help cope with the disease, school, work and everyday challenges. Special Days makes a difference in their lives!!

LCAs are off my 4Runner at this time, so I will be busily installing them and the new 5100s on that rig instead of enjoying trails. Have fun at Silver! I hope some others can join you.

Anybody ever been to St. Helen? Thinking about doing a little color tour trip up there in October.
