fire ring was what I meant to mention but couldn't remember the name.

In other news I heard "FCC is about to ban the sale of radios that include FRS frequencies (462.5625 – 462.7250 MHz) and any other licensed band in a singe device."

So I'm stocking up on some Baofeng's. 5 packs on Amazon right now.

It all depends on what you want to do. I do probably "more difficult" trails that require some armor to make it through even with my short bed. It's not so much that a long bed couldn't physically go through, but you might need to do like a 20-point turn through some tight sections that a shorter and narrower truck could make it through with less hassle.

I'm only 5'8 so sleeping in the bed isn't a problem and if I'm camping with my family we just use a big pop-up ground tent. My truck is my daily too, so a quad cab short bed just made sense to me.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
I would keep it if your not wanting a hard core offroad truck. Just spent four five days wondering around the Gifford Pinchot and Wenatchee National Forest and was wishing I had a long box at times. We ended up on some pretty washed out roads that would rival some of the easier trails I've been on, but not anything that a long box couldn't make. You just might need to make a few more points on a turn than a short box. I would put your money into armor and a locker. I did need the sliders and a locker once on one of the roads that was washed out.

Long beds on tight trails are fine as long as you're willing to use your sliders for their intended purpose. Also, I recommend having kickouts so you can pivot on stuff.
