i wonder if the fabric is on too tight when its buttoned and its pulling up on the rail? at the pivot point on the middle of the rail, is the locking pin on the top, middle, or bottom setting?

    mine is in the middle.

I think i figured it out. The foam adhesive seal that came on it just peeled right off. The adhesion to the track was no good. So it just slides around. Gorilla glue to the rescue!

also, can you push the bottom part of the clamp more into the utility track? looks like its not seated all the way into the utility track.

Looks good. I will certainly be grabbing those as replacement/spares for my future softopper. Perfect fix!

This is what my problem was initially. Make sure that the clamp is all the way in the track or you end up with a weird angle on the clamp.

Your clamp isn't clamping correctly. Like these other guys, I had that issue @ first.

I went to napa baught a roll of topper weather stripping. Then i peeled all the old stripping off cleaned well applied new and it is solid now. Those clamps were like that because as you tightened with the weather stripping sliding it would just pull the whole rail with it. Even tight i could grab the rail and it would slide back and forth. But with a new piece of weather stripping it seems to be cured

I've had my Softopper for 2 years now and I'm pretty satisfied with it.
    One small "problem"
Anybody getting streaks on your bedsides and tailgate where water runs off the top??
My truck is black and it seems to happen after I wash the truck before drying and after it rains.
Every rain storm ,I get marks from the water.
I hit it with detailer and it comes off, but the streaking is noticeable and requires constant wipe downs.
Crappy pic with the glare, but you can see the streaks...

I keep up with it, but that sounds logical to me.
Shows up on black, of course.
Remind me not to get another black vehicle. (this is my 5th)

Stitch in small rectangular earth magnets between the Velcro and the topper material. I did it by hand, took about an hour, but it was THE BEST thing ever. I bought the 6 magnets on Amazon

    You’re doing it right

While you’re there. Turn behind you and go check out the Gros Ventre. By far one of my favorite camping/exploring areas.

Thanks man! I ventured down that road for exactly that reason - I heard it was worth the drive. Unfortunately for me, most of the road was closed when I went :notsure:
