I was hoping someone could help me better understand down travel. From what I understand, our trucks have around 8 inches of travel. Let’s say that gives us 4in up travel and 4in of down travel and every inch we lift is an inch taken from our down travel. So if I lifted 2.5 inches that would leave me with only 1.5 inches of down travel which I’m assuming is a bad ride.
With that said, would a 5100/885 with TC UCA take away too much down travel leaving me with a crappy ride and issues with topping out? If this is the case, I will be going with Fox 2.5 extended to keep as much down travel as possible

You are exactly correct about down travel, and that's the reason we recommend 2.5" of lift maximum with UCA.

I am planning to stay around 2.5”. Looks like I’ll be saving up for some Fox 2.5 extendeds. I want to keep the best ride possible. How much down travel can I expect if I adjust the Fox to 2.5” with uniballs?
