There are not alot of roofrack options for access cab tacomas. So i decided to make my own out of aluminum. Mounting it to the tabs already fitted to my leer shell was the obvious choice, no drilling to thrue the cab’s roof. I decided to make it overhang over the cab a bit to gain some space and for looks also i think it blends in great with the truck.

Got some lengh of aluminum 1 inch pipe ( 1 5/16 ” OD) bent and fired up the welder

Got the basic shape i wanted

    41E145AF-A35C-4248-B78E-719CCAC49519.jpg

Cleand, primed and painted it with bedliner then mounted it for some testing in every day situation, wind noise, It sits 3/4 ” from the top of the cab so will be flexin the truck in some local trails to make sure it doesnt hit the cab

If I feel the rack is ok the way it is i’ll be finding the lights I want up there and build mounts, will also make tie downs gussets for cargo. Im planning on putting a 42 inch plano case, a 100 watt solar panel, axe/shovel and maxtraxx up there.

@gingertaco03 Awesome build! Love your slide out kitchen and bed design. I'm digging the aluminum frame concept and might copy it on a bed drawer system I'm designing.

Where are you located in Alberta? I'm deep South Calgary.

@gingertaco03 Nice, you'll love BC for wheeling.

Out of curiosity where was the picture of you camping on the beach taken? Kind of looks like Sylvan Lake.

Hey Gabriel, your setup is pretty sweet! For your drawers, do they just slide in on the floor, or is there some kind of guide system? I am loving the kitchen setup, that is awesome!

They just slide on the floor, and very well I have to say. Sure they dont slide with a gentle pull like those very expensive 500 lbs slides, but its easy enough that Im happy with it.

Ahh, I love this setup in the bed you have, it looks very professional. What kind of handles are those? I really like that they fold flat

Went to the lake last weekend, about a 8 inch of fresh powder on the ice, no trouble for the Tacoma. Cooked a nice breakfest and played freesbee with Blue then we drove all the way to the border between Canada and the USA on lake Champlin.

    Little update,

After 7 years with the truck on 33s and no lift, 2 sets of broken rear leafs, 2 leacking shocks and really tired springs I finally pulled the triger on a OME suspension kit. Went with 886 coils and dakar leafs.
Also upgraded the tires to 305/70/17 toyo open country at II.

Install was very easy, took about 5 hours to install. So far im very pleased with the stance and ride comfort.

Hope to get some lights on the roof rack soon and currently shopping for an awning, might get the new batwing from rhino rack. Also trying to finish my sliders but work keeps getting in my way .
