Hey guys, used this site a lot but finally made an account specifically for this question.

I changed the coolant in my truck, took off somewhere down the road about 5 mins after I was done and then I noticed my temp gauge was starting to overheat. I didn’t see any smoke or steam so i turned back home before anything big happened. I turned around in a parking lot and then my truck just died. I waited about a minute and restarted it. It wouldnt start the first time but I tried again and it turned over and I got about 30 seconds down the road before it died again! I was .7 miles away and finally got home (after one more repeat ). The truck was no longer overheating but when I tried to start it, it would sound little rough , shake at idle, the speedometer would jump a little bit to a little over 1000rpm, the check engine and check oil light come on and then die after about 4-6 seconds.

It was perfectly fine this morning! All I did was change the coolant

    Welcome to Tacoma World!

I think the engine turns off when it reaches a certain temperature. I had a similar experience a few months ago after getting off the freeway, but I had a leaky freeze plug and had lost my coolant on the way home.
What coolant did you use, and how much did you add?

I think you might be right about the temperature thing, I let it rest for an hour under some shade and it started completely normal, no sakes, no idle rpm spike. Finger cross it was just a temporary over heat issue. I’ll update if anything changes

Hey so update , it’s the next day.

Truck had trouble starting initially, and I when it did it spiked the rpms agin while idle.
I used Prestone 50-50 diluted and filled a little past full.

It seems to be hit or miss because I got back home and I turned it off, and then turned it back on just to e sure and it’s not doing any of the Afromentioned
