The A/C system works with defrost so to de-humidifiy the air that is blowing on the windshield to reduce fog-ups

I got 3 of the 4 bolts out snapped off one, selection of tools used and the ball joint pickle fork won for the removal. Took the compressor in the garage and HOLY MESS of a bench, this is what happens when you have access to a grage at work, your own becomes a catch all ! time to change this. To remove the pulley clutch i had to use a assortmant of chizels and in the end the pickle for won again as the best tool for the job. compressor clutch are done F

100% agree that the truck, compressor, situation, bench, garage, rust, basement, shed, tool box, is all a huge mess :)

You're not! good luck with this a/c and pulley nonsense. I'm gonna have to replace mine soon.

Just a update on where i am with this

the Dorman 34257 pulley (ac delete pulley) is listed for a LC's and 4 runner applications, same motor, bolts to the same bracket (OEM part #'s) but they have different compressors. I could not find one local and even when i went to order one to try they said supplier is also all out. So i guess that is the end of that ! i was having concerns that where it has a different compressor the back spacing might be off and i would be killing belts.

    So ....

this truck will not have ac due to the amount of money it would take to get it to run again. I know people have said i NEED ac for the defrost but there is a guy in my local toyota club that said you just need to "trick" the truck into thinking the ac is working and he has this done to his truck and it works fine. I will give more info on this when i find it out.

I had the idea of taking the pulley off the compressor and just replacing the bearing in the pulley and not hook up the electromagnetic so it does not try to pull the clutch into the pulley to turn on the pump. Basically it would be the same situation as running the truck with the AC off the compressor does not spin only when power is sent to the magnet that pulls the outer clutch half into the pulley and engages the compressor.

But i have a rusted pile of $hit and trying to get it app art i am destroying the pulley, if i used a damaged pulley i would risk killing belts not something i want to get into.

    Clear as MUD ?

Picked up my rebuilt alternator today at a cost of $138.00 tax in with 1 year warranty

Getting nowhere with AC issue, thinking about trying to get a shorter belt and just leave the compressor off

Go short. I did that with an Isuzu Trooper I had. Not a big deal.

Ok Ok Ok i should write something about all of this (i guess)

The belt tensioner came off with 5 bolts cleaned them up and put on some anti-seize, the new one went on. The old tensioner is toast and is also stuck so it was not providing constant tenshion to the belt. There is a doubble bearing in this as well only one was spinning. If you look at the old pulley you can see a ridge of rust build up on the surface. One last note the bolt for this guy is reverse tread. Backwards taco ? ..

so i have a tone of pictures but they are DARK and you cant see so i will use my words ( o no ! )

trying to delete the ac on this truck as it is $$ to fix

got a bunch of shorter belts from local auto parts store the k070834 is the correct replacement belt with AC but with no AC pulley i needed something shorter the 7k763 would almost do it. Trust me i tried everything even removing other pulleys that might of been optional lol I got it to fit but the route of the belt was going to let it rub up against itself lol (dirty) this would not work

the 7k810 belt was a shade to long letting the tenshioner go back and rest on it stop.

I did not have a 7K776 belt to try but i am trying to track one down today and i will report back :)

That was a lot easier when I deleted it from my Isuzu. I just walked in and told them Trooper no AC. The good old days before everything came Standard with everything.
