I think your information is old. TSF re-opened as of yesterday. Closures are determined per location and not a statewide on/off, unless the forest service makes a blanket statement. Keep aware of the closure information through the forest service websites or contact them by phone directly. Closures are subject to change on a per-day basis, so it's always a gamble.

If you are doing Bend instead of the coast, you may want to educate yourself on the Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (OBDR) instead. There is an official BDR site you can access here. The one annoying thing is the OBDR is governed by OOHVA, so you have to pay them for maps and stuff (Washington BDR doesn't have such nonsense and you can get the GPS tracks right off the web, and there's an active status update thread on ADVRider with additional POIs and ride reports - since OOHVA has things locked down, there's less community incentive :()

Most beaches in the state you are not allowed to drive on. Out of the dunes areas in the state you do most definitely need the tag and flag. And those are the beaches you can drive on. As far as Browns, I relayed the latest I have heard. Maybe you havent heard, but the fire level in most of the state is at extreme at the moment which has an effect on road closures. Other than that, good info.

I apologize OP for not following through. Life happened and been changing a head gasket on the kids truck. But you have gotten some good advice with Crater, Bend, Sisters/McKenzie Hwy to coast and Redwoods. That was around the path I would have recommended. There is so much to see between all listed above and if you decide to hit up Christmas Valley, the Crack in the ground is cool.

I was specifically speaking to the Jessie Honeyman OHV section being closed as of now due to it being peak season. I will have to get in touch with forest services just to make sure my planned route is open and accessible during the time I will be out there. Thanks for the tips. Is there any real alternative to going with OBDR? If not are maps the only fees that need to be paid?
No worries man! I have seen crack in the ground in plenty of photos, would defiantly be a cool spot to see in person. I will definitely have to look into it.

So we just hit up Crater lake and are headed towards bend now. Looking to disperse camp just southwest of bend. I have never dispersed camped before and don't know exactly what to look for. Any suggestions of some coordinates I can check out?

If the day is running late and you can settle for an okay place to setup camp, here's a decent central spot. (There are much better places to camp around there... just gotta explore a bit.)

PS: No fires allowed now. This was from last May.
