After posting my rant, I took the 65 on an errand. Parked in the parking lot, got out, locked the door from the OUTSIDE with the KEY because that's the only way to lock the door, the proceeded to walk away from the truck while hitting the lock button on my Toyota key.

Even I'm not immune to progress!

I spend years with multiple long trips in my old beaters, I miss it hahaha.

I don't even know how to get hill assist to work on my truck, I never use it lol. I'm more so talking about the sensor driven tjrotrle inputs and steering, and the brake actuated "LSD"

And my first car didn't have seat belts. Had bias ply tires. Big as a boat. Ah, the good ol' days.

When I started rebuilding the truck in 1998 (at 14) my mother made me and my father find a way to put shoulder harnesses in it. It had lap belts at one time, but someone cut them out.

For whatever reason (maybe the hydraulic brake booster), the OR and Pro don't have that function in the MTs. I don't know about the AT versions. For those ATs that have it, it seems to be a different HSA system that make a bunch of groaning noises and sometimes allows a bit of roll back? I'm guessing that theirs is part of the ABS system. The HSA on my Sport make no noise at all except for a quiet bonk that must be the valve releasing.

A mustang has the same thread pitch (I used a mustang boot adapter when I added my ball knob) so if that doesn't come with the correct adapter, I'd be shocked.

    You got me there buddy!

same here. this is the BS thread right?

I'm still going to try and find a way to disable the hill assist is possible. Its my personal vendetta. I read on another forum that TS might be able to do it. Anyone with TS willing to look through the options?

Did you mean the retro/old style TRD Pro shift knob (that looks like a billiard ball)? I'd like to put one of those on a 2018 but would like something a little cleaner/nicer looking than just the 5/8" grommet trick I've seen to hold the boot. If so, can you like what you used?

can't talk to the adapter question but there is definitely a guy around here with it. and a pic. I think if you browse back in the BS forum, this one, you may come across it but don't hold me to it!

If you look on ebay/Amazon, there's a ton of shipped from China shift boot retainers. The hole in the bottom is slightly too small and runs into the taper but I drilled mine out a bit with a step bit and it fits extremely well.

We don't have it on the OR or Pro, only the SR and Sport had or currently has it.

I swapped a Sport for an OR and it caught me off guard the first time I drove it... hill assist made me lazy.

I have never driven a vehicle with it, sure it would throw me for a loop adjusting to it.

Funny thing was the Sport caught me off guard too. First time on a hill I was just thinking wtf? when the hold released and I started rolling. Then I got used to it because the ramp in my parking garage is about 15 degrees and people can't seem to fathom that people might actually still drive a stick around here. Gives quite the jump scare some times with the OR now.
