Well it's been a couple days of commuting and I haven't felt any more residual oil from the bolt since I added the teflon plumber's tape to the threads of that bolt. Time will tell.

I've never seen someone so devoted to upgrading a Mongoose.

Props to you man! I hope you like the upgrades!

Can you send a link to that fork? My fiance's old Specialized is due for a fork

haha, well it's a commuter bike and considering I have had my stuff stolen my whole adult life (stuff that was normally locked), it's a decent bike for what it is but I wouldn't be super pissed if it was stolen. I just want something I can ride to work in and also do some XC stuff on occasional weekends. I also just like tinkering with stuff too. It has performed admirably so far, and the new suspension was a worthy upgrade! The fork I got was a DNM RC-32. I got it off ebay for $140. It was the cheapest DNM fork that had rebound adjustment and NO remote lockout. It just has a regular lockout.

also do not buy this kickstand it sucks^^. I ended up getting lucky and getting a "lightning deal" on the typical BV kickstand on Amazon. Already have one of my gf's bike so I know it works.

Just put it on and and it's nice and solid.

Details on this bad boy? We picked up a '19 ST29" for my wife about a month ago, she's loving it. Only mods so far are a set of Chester pedals and some mastic tape to protect the downtube.

Just stock alloy SJ. Plan to keep it stock (we know how this goes) minus pedals. Taking it out for the first time this afternoon.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why the hell can't clothing for biking come in a standard size? Being a larger individual, it makes it really hard to order clothing and shoes that are bike related. sometimes i order and XL and it fits fine, other times i have to order a XXXL and it may still be a little small. I ordered a pair of shoes and the sizing chart said that a 48 = 14 in US. Other shoes i've ordered, a 47 or 48 fit just fine. I get these shoes and they fit like a size 11.

The only shoes I have ordered in a while are FiveTens (love my Kestrel Lace shoes, btw). Don't remember what size I ordered, but they fit great. I have ordered some Shimanos in the past and didn't like their shape for my foot. Others I have bought at a bike shop after trying on, but I'm picky about my feet.

I've had good luck with Fox clothing and that is pretty much all I will order online. But comparing their sizing in shorts to the Bontrager and Specialized stuff I have bought in stores, all three brands run slightly different. Shirts I just get whatever athletic stuff is on sale at whatever store I'm at since I tend to tear it up. The Champion C9 stuff is a good value.

Nice rides guys. Here’s mine, a 2014 Santa Cruz. My love for riding is a big reason I traded my RS for a Taco.

Crappy pic but just upgraded my frame from a 2016 to a 2018 Kona Process 111. Kept it a 27.5 midfat with the 2.8’s

Which brings me to my next post, if anyone is looking for a nice frame. I’m letting this go at a steal. Just want it gone. 2016 Kona Process 111 Large, Rockshock monarch shock. Has usual scratches. I bought it used on pinkbike. I upgraded to an 2018 frame only reason for the sale. Absolutely no problems with the frame. Konas aren’t cheap, this frame costs new around $1400-$1700. I’ll let this go for $400 plus shipping

Awesome. My boss now owns a dealer so I was considering going to a '19 SJ Carbon Comp. I'm on a '16 SJ Alloy Comp and I love it. Just not sure it is really worth it to make the change. Supposedly new frame is 20% stiffer and some nice details, but basically not much difference at all in geometry / weight. So jury is still out lol. Awesome bikes tho.

I have a Remedy 8. It's probably a bit more travel than I need, but as they say, better to have it and not need it . . .

As far as riding impressions, I would say the Remedy really wakes up at speed and loves to fly. It feels a bit awkward at slower speeds, although not enough to be annoying. I've pedaled it through some slow, gnarly rock gardens and it was fine, although my Stache is much better at that kind of stuff. Get it pointed downhill, though, and it's a beast.

I loved my Plus Fuel, but I also have a Stache and there was too much overlap between the two. If I were to only have 1 bike, it would be the Fuel+. But I like having the wagon wheel hardtail and a long travel bike. You can fit up to 2.6" tires on the Remedy if you want to go Plus. I had 2.8" Rekons on the Remedy at first and it was too tight for my liking, and they seem to run a bit narrow. I have been going back and forth between Rekon 2.6" and the stock Bontrager XR4's in 2.4", and the XR4's are barely narrower than the Maxxis Rekons. XR4's are more to my liking it seems, may try those in 2.6" (that is what the new Remedy comes with).

Anyway, you can't really go wrong either way, but if you like to crank out miles and just have one bike, I think the Fuel+ is a great choice. If you are less of the cross-country type and like hitting the bigger lines and playing around on stuff, you might be happier with the Remedy. The Remedy 8 spec is already a great value, and marked down it would be tough to pass up.
