Subway4X3 Shameless Copycat Build

Yup. That's coming up. Might be one of the first projects using my new Plasma Cutter and Welder..

Then I don't lose departure angle and don't have to worry about the license plate flipped up while driving.

I have some ideas... Maybe weld up a receiver somewhere on the swingout.

 

Is it the metal pin? Or the plastic part that was cracked? Maybe covered under warranty?

To the aluminum pin sheared right at the nut.

 

Truck actually does some work.

Picked up a few bags of mulch after work.


Had to offload it quickly and hustle to my neighbor’s house.

His HD rental van got stuck big time on the wet grass (now mud) in his backyard.

 

The aluminum pin. Doubt warranty will cover that. Assume too much body movement during offroading caused it to shear. Gonna Fab a new set of pins out of steel

 

Under belly armor maintenance:
Pressure washed, foam soap, rinse, acetone wash and brush-on paint.

Used this and I like it a lot.

 

Did you wire wheel the rust off or prime it?

 

Too much work. Especially for something that’s gonna get scraped off on the first wheeling trip of the season.

Winch line maintenance done.

Pulled the line off the drum, washed, rinsed and air dried.

Spliced in a Factor 55 Flatlink using my coolest new tool, the Factor 55 Fast Fid.

Today was the day for winch maintenance! You, I and Chux all did it.

 

Edit: DO NOT do this heat shrink mod! Heat from the winch drum during heavy use will melt the heat shrink.
Also added a “warning” marker using 3/4” red heat shrink tubing. Reminds me not to go past the first 8 wraps on the drum.


The Factor 55 Flat Link looks a lot neater than the hook hanging off a shackle.

Genius!!! Now that I've got a bumper headed my way and know which winch I want I'll be looking into a factor 55 link soon.

 

7/10/18 installed Worthington 6 lb aluminum propane tank onto swingout.

Uses

$14 HPS Performance Stainless Steel T-Bolt Hose Clamp Size # 172, fit 6" ID hose SSTC-159-167 Polish 6.26"-6.57" (159mm-167mm)

T-bolts and the single BFF Jerry Can Cage. Leaves extra room for my chainsaw.

Finally finished my rear swingout bike carrier receiver.
This was the old version, which required removing the bike to open the swingout./

Welded 2” receiver to swingout using mild steel c-channel vertical brace and a 2” bare receiver from etrailer.com.






Now able to open my swingout without removing bike or bike rack

 

Good thing that bike is light.

 

Yup. 14 lbs and an aluminum bike rack too!
