So I put in the new upper ball joint from JBA. It’s not my problem. There is still play. The play is coming from the long upper control arm mount bolt. Can I buy this bolt?? What’s the best way to approach?

Thanks...just went out and found it. Any idea what size washer to get? I can just call Marlin tomorrow.

The pic is from the good side (no play) with washer.

Why does it look like there should be a washer holding the bushing in on the insides of the arms closest to the strut tower? What is keeping those inside bushings from coming out?

:notsure: Mine was never supplied with inner washers so I just went oem style and only have the outer two. No issues yet and I just rechecked the other day.

    Yea, I see the gap.

So pumping grease in doesn't force the bushing out? And honestly, looking at the photo I'm not sure what would force the washer against the bushing anyway.

I don’t grease my bushings since there’s no zerks on mine. I only have a zerk on the ball joint.

So what kind of bushing or washer would this be? I want to attempt to fix this today. My inspection is 15 days overdue..so need to get it done.

What did everyone torque your ball joint to? I torqued mine down to 45ft lb like the instruction said but the little washer inbetween the spindle and ball joint boot is still kinda loose. Is that normal?

Well shit, I wonder if I can torque it without taking the tires off. I feel too lazy right now.

Hmmmm, the video I watched was the short version for a FJ but it's the same ball joint I would think.

    https://youtu.be/Jt5a0fUMR00

And yes, it might be tight but you should be able to turn the wheel enough to get in there.
