So let’s update this and see what people are using for lint free towels.

I just got 6 of the Griot’s Garage Speed Shine as I know I can trust em,

Machine wash warm, tumble dry low, I use 3D Towel Kleen detergent from Amazon. One ounce per load. Sometimes I run them through twice if super dirty. Sometimes I give them an extra rinse (ex. Glass towels).

You'll get 100 different answers to this question. I'm not here to argue. But that's my pretty simple routine. Good results and towels look like new after many cycles.

I just use Tide Free up to the 2nd line in the cap and machine wash warm, I also fill the softener holder on the washer with white vinegar. When done I put them in the dryer on low heat.

Sure do. I have specific towels for glass, waterless wash, rinseless wash, drying, coating/wax removal, and utility towel for nasty stuff you don't want to use a good towel on. I have bought several towels from Adams (only when running a special) and the Rag Co. Rag Co is running a big sale right now for Labor Day.

Nice man. Which towels do you like from TRC or which different types should I look to buy? Looking at the Eagle towels for wax/polish buffing and the Dry Me a River towel for drying.

I use eagles for rinseless wash and applying Adams Guard and Gloss. I have some dry me a river along for drying but never use them since I got a big microfiber towel from Detailers Domain and one from Microfiber Tech. I use their Everest towels for wax/buffing. Have some of their blue waffle weave for waterless wash. Then I some short nap towels that are utility that I got from Adams (99% sure they are supplied to them by TRC).

Thinner (365gsm) is often better for wax and polish removal. I wouldn't use eagles for wax/sealant/Polish removal. I use AG's edgeless 365 polishing cloths for that. TRC has some too. Plusher (eagles) is nice for spray wax application and rinseless washing.

So why thinner towels for wax? Before we knew better growing up, Dad and I would buff out carnauba wax with old bath towels. I realize now that those towels were scratching the crap out of the paint but the thickness seemed to make the process easier...

I use the Everest all the time for that. Have no idea the rational behind a thinner towel. I guess it might work better on something that is a b*tch to remove.

I would suggest buying a variety and seeing what you like.

For me, the thinner towels are better for hard to remove products. And oily products. I find them to be grabbier and I don't have to press as hard as with thicker towels. For something like colinite 476 the thinner 365gsm towels would be so much easier than using an eagle.

For easy to remove products, the thicker towels are fine. Just my personal preference.

That said, I LOVE the edgeless 365 polishing cloths from AG for polish removal. It's just much more tactile and I can work more quickly. Again personal preference. I got a big pile of eagles too that I use for spray wax and rinseless. Also great towels.

I Agree with ace. Get a variety. And see what you like. You might find a combo that works for you that is different than what 99% of the others would recommend.

In the end, I just like trying different towels for different things all the time. And my process always evolves to a degree. It's a hobby and just have fun.

I live in the projects and I feel it disinfects after other people wash their clothes. It also softens the microfiber safely unlike using store bought fabric softener which you are not suppose to use on microfiber towels anyway. Everybody has their way of doing things and adding white vinegar is one of the things I feel comfortable doing with my towels as well as my clothes. You can hit a few of those links and do a little research if you like.

For drying towels it's hard to find a better one that the Griots Garage PFM. Never was a fan of huge drying towels so their 2 pack of 16x16" are great. You can damn near dry the whole Tacoma with one of those even with spraying it down with a drying aid. They do make it in larger sizes if you prefer that route.

The Rag Company stuff is top notch as well, if they are not having a sale be sure to find the link that says: "CLICK HERE for bulk pricing" on any given towel. If purchasing when they are not having a sale also look at the discount page to save a few bucks.

Aside from a dedicated microfiber wash, don't forget to get in the habit of setting your dryer to low. Obviously avoid using fabric softener and maybe give the dryer a wipe down if it was used during a prior load.

Only wash microfiber with other MF. Don't hesitate to using more towels than you need per detail.
