Magnetic Transfer Case Drain Plugs

    So who else was surprised to not see a magnet on the transfer case drain plug? I certainly was. I for one want the peace of mind of seeing a clean magnet when I change the fluid in the tcase.

    So...let's solve that problem. Trail Toys is now offering a replacement magnetic drain plug for the low low price of $8.50 each. :D You also have the option of picking up extra copper washers during checkout.

    The drain plugs fit all 1st and 2nd gen Tacomas, FJ Cruisers, and 4Runners. The plugs will fit all gear driven transfer cases as well, but they come with a magnetic plug. If you need a replacement this will work just fine.

    You can see the stock drain plug below with the 21mm head and the lack of a magnet. The new plugs have a taller 19mm that will reduce the risk of rounding off the hex.

    Correct, though I haven't pulled the plug on a third gen to see if Toyota has added a magnet or not. I'll send you a refund if there's a magnet in the 3rd gen case, just let me know.

    All of the 8” toy rear ends. The only thing I haven’t checked to see is if the flange on my plug is too large in diameter.

    My old rear axle is at a buddies house. I plan on stopping over tomorrow to check the fitment.
